Chapter 513
“Stop rushing me!” Ruth screamed, panic cracking her voice.
Just then…
“Raarh!”
A zombie lunged straight at the cluster of elites.
The man in the white mask reacted instantly, shoving the last guard in his group forward.
“Ah!”
The scream barely left his throat before he was swallowed by the swarm.
That single body bought them a few seconds.
But it also meant that every last guard was gone.
Ark Three had five people left, three men and two women.
Ark Two had only Ruth.
Ark One had Nathaniel.
And then there were Hayley, Griffin, and 16 perfectly healthy dogs. They strolled up without a scratch.
Ruth had already entered the wrong code twice.
Ding! [Password incorrect.]
“You did this on purpose!” the white mask man roared, completely losing control. “You’re trying to get us killed!”
He grabbed Ruth by the throat from behind.
“I’m the director of Ark Three! You knew I was here! You planned this!”
There was an unspoken rule between the Ark bases.
When visiting another base, everyone wore masks.
No one asked for identities, and no one revealed them, unless the host base chose to reveal their own first.
It was all to protect the absolute safety of their top leadership, to prevent anyone from realizing that their highest -ranking leader had personally arrived.
This was the apocalypse, not a peaceful world. The more hidden the leader, the safer the base.
Now, Ark Three had snapped. Their base director had revealed himself, and it was the same man who had shoved the server earlier and sent her to be fed to a zombie.
“I didn’t know!” Ruth shouted desperately. “Let me try one last time!”
Of course, she didn’t know that Ark Three’s director was here. Even if she had, did that make her life worth less than his?
Her trembling hand reached for the keypad.
Trevor Clayton tightened his grip on her neck, his eyes bloodshot. At the same time, he unleashed his last

remaining gift: ice variant abilities.
“Hold them back!” he shouted.
His two managers threw out water and fire orbs. The approaching zombies slowed, snarling as the attacks hit
them.
Their pace dropped…but only barely.
Everyone’s faces went pale as the last of their strength drained away.
Then…
Ding! [Password correct.]
The door slid open.
Trevor dragged Ruth inside first.
And froze.
“Raarh!”
Right in front of him stood a female zombie.
