Chapter 667
A man sat off to the side collecting payment, the money changing hands with a steady rustling sound
Some people paid with grain. Others handed over crystal cores.
“I want two pounds of ribs.”
“I’ll take a pound from the hip.”
“Give me the whole thigh.”
The woman on the chopping block bled steadily, her body trembling as pieces of her were carved away and sold
Her eyes were wide open.
At first, they burned with pain and disbelief, but as the blade kept falling again and again, that light slowly faded
What remained was empty and dead..
When Thomas saw that, something inside him snapped. The rage broke past everything he could understand.
His whole body trembled as he asked, “You’re her husband?”
“Yeah!” the man snapped immediately. “She’s my woman! If you want meat, pay for it!”
“Are you still human?” Thomas grabbed him by the collar, and the coins and grain stuffed in the man’s arms spilled everywhere.
The man was thin, smaller than most of the others here, but his eyes were just as wild as the rest of them.
Even a skinny scavenger could bare its teeth.

“Quit acting righteous,” the man snarled. “It’s the apocalypse. She’s my wife. I’ll deal with her however I want. If it bothers you so damn much, buy the whole body!”
Thomas finally lost it.
He kicked the man clean off his feet, sending him flying, then slammed into the stall and overturned the whole thing with a crash.
“What the hell are you doing?”
“You trying to wreck the market?”
“Get him!”
People from all around rushed forward at once.
From the outer edge of the crowd, Hayley had heard every single word. She shoved Griffin’s hand away from her eyes, pushed Winona into his arms, and charged in.
Damn it.
These people weren’t human; they were monsters.
If she didn’t swing, she wouldn’t be human either!
Hayley had lived through the apocalypse twice. She had seen how ugly people could become when morality

collapsed.
But cannibalism was still a line most people wouldn’t cross.
Even the disgusting settlement she had lived in during her previous life, a place full of scheming and cruelty, had never openly eaten people.
And if anyone did, they hid it. Your didn’t turn it into a public business.
Swapping children for food and treating people like livestock was never the norm.
Those kinds of horrors only happened when everything had completely collapsed, and even then, it stayed confined to small, desperate pockets. No functioning society ever accepted it as something normal.
When Hayley had cleared out Aecraton before, the only cannibals she had ever encountered were a handful of feral lunatics hiding beneath an abandoned old town.
Even they knew to keep it secret.
But here?
They had turned it into a marketplace.
People were buying and selling human flesh as if it were steak.
Even someone like Hayley, who thought she had already seen the worst of human nature, felt a cold chill run down her spine.
Her anger exploded.
She had to teach these people a lesson!

Hayley didn’t even bother using her abilities; she went straight in with her fists.
Thomas was already in the middle of the crowd. She came in from the outside. Together, they tore into the mob.
Fists slammed into bodies. Every punch landed hard.
Thomas had taken strength and speed boosters earlier, and now, his power was terrifying. Every heavy swing dropped someone to the ground.
Hayley was even worse. Anyone hit by her fists was lucky if they only ended up with broken bones instead of internal bleeding.
