The Endgame Chronicles (by Hugh White) novel Chapter 694

Chapter 694

“Your old camp was inside the canyon?” Hayley asked.

“Yeah,” Felix replied.

“What kind of people were in the inner camp?”

“We don’t know.” Felix and Laurel both shook their heads. “They were really secretive. They never talked to us unless it was during trades. And they had guns, so no one in the outer casup dared mess with them. They kept their doors shut most of the time. No one knew what they were doing in there.”

Hayley went quiet, thinking.

The lab they had found today was just outside the canyon, and that area had a heavy zombie presence.

Could those things be connected?

What if Ascendant Creed hadn’t left at all, and had just moved from the castle into the canyon?

“How much else do you know about the inner camp? Like how many people they have, or what they recruit for?” Hayley asked. Felix and Laurel both shook their heads again.

“We don’t know. Whenever they came out, they wore big masks and hats. You could only see their eyes. Couldn’t tell who was who. And they didn’t come out on any set schedule. And the people they recruited, once they went in, they never came back out

“Never came back out?”

“Yeah. The outer camp used to have over 1,300 people. Now, it’s just a little over 1,000. The rest were taken in by them. We have no idea what they’re doing in there.”

Hearing that, Hayley grew even more curious about the inner camp. Something was definitely off.

“Leonard, take these two and assign them to whatever basic positions are open.”

“Got it.”

Laurel and Felix followed Leonard out.

Once they were gone, Hayley turned her attention to Winona. “Hey, kid. Cene here. Do you remember where your inne
