Chapter 837

June’s group of four stuck with their own vehicle.

Hayley looked at them. “You’re coming down with me. Wait inside the station. When you hear my signal, start throwing explosives. Blow a path open and cover my exit.”

“No problem!”

June and the others lit up with excitement.

Hayley handed out the explosives, set the ambush points and timing, and everyone moved into position.

Clark’s team handled the initial distraction, drawing the zombies away while everything was being set up.

Once that was in place, Hayley switched to June’s vehicle and headed down toward the tracks.

At that moment, Ben, still reeking from throwing up, climbed in after them.

“I’m going, too.”

“This is dangerous. We’ll be stuck down there for a while. You shouldn’t come,” Fiona said.

“Who asked you?” Ben shot her a glare and shoved past her, taking the front passenger seat.

“Ben! You’re not going!” Clark yelled.

“Clark, stop trying to control me! If you keep doing this, I’ll never grow up. That’s on you!”

Clark opened his mouth, then closed it again. He looked at his brother-in-law, saw the resolve there, and let it go.

Then his gaze shifted to Hayley. “Ms. Reid, about him…”

“I’m not babysitting. This is the apocalypse. If someone wants to get themselves killed, that’s their call.”

“Who’s getting killed? I’m here to toughen up,” Ben snapped.

Hayley didn’t even look at him. She sat in the back seat and spoke to everyone else, “You’re responsible for your own life. If anyone puts the team at risk, take them out. I’ll answer for it.”

Her tone was flat and direct. There was no hesitation in it.

Killing was nothing new to her. And dealing with idiots? Even less so.

In this world, she didn’t tolerate anyone.

June and the others looked at her with burning admiration.

Clark felt the edge in her voice. He had been in the military for years. The killing intent coming off her right now made his whole body tense.

He studied her more seriously.

No wonder she led an entire league. She wasn’t just a pretty face.

Bon You heard her No one’s looking out for you down there. Get out of the car.”

nod. “Fine. Go.”

He let Ben follow June’s group.

“Keep an eye on them from above. No retreat. Be ready to support at any time.”

Letting go was one thing. Watching his back was another.

They scrapped the plan to cover Hayley and pull out immediately. They were staying for support.

Meanwhile, Hayley’s vehicle tore ahead alone, heading back toward the tracks.

More zombies started gathering in front of her. Not just the dozen that had climbed up earlier; hundreds were being drawn in by the sound of the engine, their snarls rising together like a wave ready to swallow everything in its path.

Right then, a thunderous blast rang out in the distance.

Boom!

The charging zombies suddenly shifted direction, sprinting toward the source of the explosions.
