The Ending She Read (And the One He Rewrote) novel Chapter 31

“You continue... I'll sleep at the office tonight!”

Jason Whitaker finished speaking, walked past her without looking sideways, and entered the walk-in closet.

She could hear him pulling out a suitcase and packing.

Harriet followed him. “Are you... going on a business trip?”

“Yeah. I'm heading to Portsmouth tomorrow.”

!!!

If she had known he was going on a business trip, she wouldn't have had to sneak around like a thief!

She could have openly stayed in the study to piece it together; she refused to believe she couldn't piece together the string of numbers she wanted to see.

Her mind turned again. Portsmouth!

She hadn't been there yet.

If she followed Jason, she could fly on a private jet. Once they were divorced, she wouldn't have the chance.

Harriet eagerly stepped forward to hand him clothes. “Can you take me, Archer, and Seraphina with you? I promise we won't interrupt your work, we...”

She caught a fleeting hesitation in his eyes.

She instantly understood.

It was inconvenient.

As for why it was inconvenient?

Did it even need to be said? His first love would be there!

“Uh, pretend I didn't say anything...”

Harriet turned to slip away, making up her mind that the moment Jason left, she would plant herself in the study and piece it together until the sun went down.

His cold, deep voice rang out from behind her. “You can come.”

???

She could what?

She could pretend she didn't say anything?

Or, she could go?

Harriet turned around.

Jason pulled open the display cabinet, selected two pairs of cufflinks, and looked back at her. “The flight is at seven tomorrow morning. We leave at five-thirty. Can you wake up?”

If it meant going out to have fun, let alone five-thirty, three o'clock would do.

Harriet nodded decisively.

Harriet wouldn't go to places like a business summit, and even if she did, she wouldn't understand a thing.

One day for the summit, one day for business meetings—there was almost no place where she was needed.

Unless...

Jason fell silent for a moment, then shook his head. “No.”

Harriet felt relieved. Thinking that she needed to get on the good side of this god of wealth, she quickly showed her enthusiasm. “I'm mainly doing this for Archer and Seraphina. They're so big now, and we haven't traveled together yet.”

“Plus, it's summer vacation now. When school starts, all the kids will be chattering away—this one went to the prairies, that one went to an island. If Archer and Seraphina just stay at home every day, they won't even be able to join the conversation.”

The more she spoke, the more she felt she was doing a great job as a mother. She became excited. “Tomorrow I'll take them to the beach to dig in the sand, and if there's time, I'll take them to Disney World the day after... Ah, then we have to bring Lana! Jason, can I add one more person?”

Let alone one person, adding a whole company was fine.

Looking at Harriet's lively, expressive face, so vastly different and vibrant compared to the past.

He nodded.

“I'll go tell Lana...”

Harriet dropped the daily necessities she hadn't finished packing, turned, and headed out.

“Lana, do Archer and Seraphina have any cute clothes?”

“...Teresa, do you have your travel permits? ...You pack first, I'll tell Jason in a bit!”
