Gibson remained silent, shifting his gaze to the shimmering artificial lake in the distance.
As a psychiatrist, he had treated countless female patients suffering from depression and anxiety, knowing full well that their conditions were inextricably linked to their marriages.
Because of this, he held a deep compassion for these women, focusing on the real-world traps they found themselves in, and harbored a fierce disdain for the negligent spouses who hid in the shadows.
He never expected his childhood friend to be exactly that kind of man.
"Killian, since there's no affection left between you two, just agree to an amicable divorce. It's better for both of you."
Killian's lips curled into a meaningful smirk. He didn't say a word, simply turning on his heel and walking away.
Gibson took a deep breath, clenching his fists in frustration. He felt he had spoken far too much today.
Meanwhile, Daniel and Leon were out on the terrace getting some fresh air.
"So, have you thought about investing in my project?" Daniel asked.
"I knew you had an ulterior motive. You buy me one dinner and instantly want my money."
"What's wrong with that? Project Astra is a premier autonomous driving program. I guarantee you'll see a return on investment beyond your wildest dreams."
"Don't forget, the Quincy family has our own Project Skiff."
"That one is garbage."
"You're that confident?"
"An autonomous driving project named Project Skiff sounds like it's going to sink before it even leaves the lot."
Leon frowned. "Fair point. What kind of lunatic came up with that name anyway?"
"Killian's mistress."
"I guess your project is the safer bet then."
The two men exchanged a knowing look and burst out laughing.
"Jokes aside, I'm serious. Take a look at our core selling points. Even if you don't invest, it's not like I can force the money out of your pocket, right?" Daniel waved a hand toward the distance.
Jillian hurried over.
Everyone else had brought their drivers, but since Leon was staying alone at a hotel, he had driven himself.
Daniel wanted to give him a ride, but he had been drinking too.
"Jillian, you head home first. I'll have my driver drop Leon off at his hotel, and then I'll head back."
"Daniel, don't you have a 5 AM international flight tomorrow?" Jillian asked.
Daniel tapped his forehead. "Completely forgot. It's fine, I'll drop him off first. I'll still have time."
Jillian shook her head. "I'll drive him."
A 5 AM flight to the US meant he wouldn't even have time to adjust to the time zone. It would definitely affect his work.
Daniel hesitated. "Are you sure you can handle it alone?"
"I can. Just give me the hotel address, and once I get there, I'll have the staff drive him the rest of the way."
"Alright. Call me immediately if anything happens on the road."
