Jillian forcefully pulled her arm free, gave Gibson a curt nod, and walked away without another word, resuming her search for Mallory.
Natalie was far too arrogant to chase after Gibson. Instead, she spun around and stormed back into the main hall, dropping into the seat next to Sienna.
"Mom, I just saw Jillian! She was seducing Gibson out in the hallway, practically throwing herself at him."
Sienna frowned sharply, lowering her voice to scold her. "We're at a high-end gala! Stop spewing such nonsense. You sound like you have zero class."
"I'm not making it up! I saw it with my own eyes!" Natalie stomped her foot in frustration.
Sienna picked up her champagne glass, her expression totally unbothered. "Jillian is Killian's wife. No matter how much you despise her, every move she makes reflects on the Quincy family. Watch your mouth when you're in public."
"Fine," Natalie muttered bitterly.
Sienna simply didn't believe Natalie's accusation.
She knew her daughter too well. Spoiled rotten since birth, Natalie was incredibly possessive, petty, and prone to wild jealousy.
Sienna also knew Gibson's personality. He was famously aloof and held impossibly high standards. There was absolutely no way he would ever look twice at someone like Jillian.
But then her mind drifted to what had happened earlier. Daniel had gone out of his way to look after Jillian, even claiming her as his date.
A trace of confusion rippled through Sienna.
She genuinely couldn't fathom how exceptional, young powerhouses like Daniel and Gibson were somehow constantly entangled with Jillian.
If it were her, she wouldn't give a woman of Jillian's caliber a second glance.
Sienna shook her head subtly, deciding that modern men's taste in women was simply deteriorating.
A short while later, the crowd of networking businessmen surrounding Killian finally began to disperse.
Sienna elegantly walked over to him.
Killian looked up and offered a brief, respectful nod.
Jillian immediately rushed over and grabbed her, her voice thick with worry. "Where have you been? You weren't answering your phone. I've been looking everywhere for you."
"Nowhere. I just had a bit too much to drink and felt dizzy, so I found an empty room to rest for a minute," Mallory explained smoothly.
Jillian carefully scanned her friend. She didn't look injured or distressed, though her lipstick was noticeably smudged.
Just as Jillian was about to ask what happened, Mallory grabbed her hand and quickly pulled her down the corridor.
As they turned the corner, Jillian caught sight of the same lounge door opening again. Preston walked out, slowly and methodically adjusting his tailored suit. With a commanding posture, he turned and strode away in the opposite direction.
Jillian's heart skipped a beat, but in the end, she decided not to pry.
The charity gala finally came to an end.
That night, Jillian received a phone call from her mother, Judith.
She had been fired by the hotel manager. The official reason given was a complaint from a VIP guest.
