Judith knew immediately that Silas was the one who had complained, and she vented her frustration over the phone.

Jillian listened quietly. Once her mother had calmed down a bit, she gently comforted her. "It's okay. If you're fired, you're fired. Don't be upset. You don't need to go out looking for work anymore. I'll send you a few thousand dollars every month—it'll be more than enough to cover your and Lydia's living expenses."

"I wasn't working because we're desperate for money!" Judith rejected the offer, her voice thick with grievance. "I just can't stand sitting around doing nothing..."

Jillian patiently coaxed her a little longer until her mood completely stabilized, finally ending the call.

The weekend arrived in the blink of an eye.

As usual, Killian had Jillian drive Connor Quincy to his art class.

Over the past few days, Jillian had mentally adjusted herself.

There was no need to keep avoiding Silas.

She would just treat him like a complete stranger.

After getting Connor ready, she drove him straight to Madeline's lavish villa.

Instead of waiting in the garden, she walked Connor right into the house.

As soon as she stepped inside, she heard Sienna and Natalie chatting and laughing in the living room, with Madeline warmly entertaining them.

Recently, Sienna and Natalie had been visiting the Xavier family quite frequently.

"By the way, is Gibson not home today?" Sienna asked.

Madeline sighed with a smile, her tone a mix of pride and exasperation. "He's never home. He practically treats the hospital like his primary residence."

"Gibson is already a world-class surgeon at such a young age. You've raised an incredible son."

"Oh, please," Madeline flattered right back. "Your Killian is the true definition of excellence. And look at Natalie—I haven't seen her in a few years, and she's blossomed into such a gorgeous young woman."

Standing nearby, Jillian simply lowered her head with a polite, silent smile. She didn't walk over to greet them, silently retreating to a small side meeting room to wait.

Silas chuckled softly, his voice laced with deliberate manipulation. "Well, what if Sylvia became your new mom? Wouldn't that be nice?"

Connor froze, blinking his eyes in sheer confusion. "I don't think so..."

"Your mom is too unrefined. She lacks class," Silas said smoothly, carrying a thinly veiled contempt. "Just look at the mothers of your classmates. Every single one of them is elegant, sophisticated, and exceptional."

He left the thought hanging, not pushing the poison any further. Reaching over, he picked up the boy's backpack. "Alright, class is over. Put your bag on."

The moment the words left his mouth, the door to the art room was shoved wide open.

Silas looked up, locking eyes with Jillian's glacial stare.

He knew instantly that she had heard every word, yet he felt absolutely zero remorse. If anything, a flash of disdain crossed his face. "Mrs. Quincy, knocking before entering is basic courtesy. Do you really not understand such a simple concept?"

"Mr. Xavier." Jillian forced down the burning rage in her chest, her voice deadly calm. "Stirring up trouble and manipulating a child behind his mother's back is not how a teacher should act. I highly suggest you remember that."
