Jillian held his little hand, unsure of how to soothe him for a moment, and simply spoke in a gentle, straightforward tone. "Connor, your dad and I got a divorce. Do you know what that means?"

Connor's eyes instantly reddened. Many of his classmates had divorced parents, and he knew exactly what it entailed.

"It just means we live apart, not that I don't want you. From now on, we can meet here every week. On weekends, I'll take you out, buy you clothes and toys. You can always come to me with any problems you have with your studies. Remember, no matter what happens between me and your father, you will always be my number one priority."

After comforting him softly for a long time, Jillian led him to the lobby doors. She watched him walk away, waved goodbye, and then turned to leave.

Mrs. Zeller had been waiting in the reception area. She hurried over to pick up the boy, catching a glimpse of Jillian's retreating figure from the corner of her eye. The silhouette looked remarkably familiar. Seeing Connor's red eyes and the way he kept looking back at the woman with obvious reluctance, her suspicion grew.

Mrs. Zeller felt a tightening in her chest and tested the waters. "That person just now... wasn't your mother, was it?"

Connor furrowed his brows and stayed completely silent.

"It couldn't be. Your mother was never that stunning. Besides, Jillian used to have some meat on her bones, but that woman was much slimmer," Mrs. Zeller muttered, habitually belittling her as she gestured with her hands.

Her words completely infuriated Connor. He violently shook off Mrs. Zeller's hand, his voice trembling with anger. "Don't you dare talk about my mother like that!"

Mrs. Zeller froze, putting on a wronged expression. "Connor, how can you speak to me like that? I'm Mrs. Zeller!"

"I don't care who you are. You are not allowed to insult my mom."

Connor ignored her hurt look and marched straight to the car.

Upon returning to the Quincy estate, Mrs. Zeller immediately went to Killian to complain. "It probably wasn't Jillian. That woman was much thinner and looked far more elegant. Connor stared at her for a long time and even threw a tantrum at me because of her."

Killian gave a faint nod. "I understand. The boy has been sensitive lately, easily angered over minor things. You probably just saw wrong."
