The staff present all looked completely stunned.
They obviously knew who Sylvia was. On screen and in the public eye, she was always portrayed as the epitome of a gentle, elegant, intellectual, and competent elite woman.
They simply hadn't expected that, in private, she would act like this—arrogant, unreasonable, and throwing tantrums like a spoiled child. She was entirely unrecognizable from her public persona.
The front desk manager reacted quickly, soothing Sylvia's temper while placing a call to Daniel.
"Mr. Langley, Ms. Xavier is causing a scene in the lobby and trying to force her way up. Should we call the police?"
In the top-floor office, Daniel frowned slightly. After a brief moment of thought, he roughly deduced the reason behind Sylvia's meltdown at the company.
Logically, he had no reason to spare Sylvia's feelings. But if he called the police, the incident would undoubtedly become a massive scandal, utterly destroying the public image Sylvia had spent years meticulously cultivating.
Doing so would mean simultaneously alienating both the Xavier family and Killian.
Unless it threatened core business interests, there was no need to escalate things to that level. It was better to leave some room for diplomacy.
"Don't call the police. I'll head down to handle her."
Word of Sylvia causing a scene on the first floor spread rapidly, and the employees in the office area were already buzzing with gossip.
Naturally, Jillian heard about it too. She stood up and went to knock on Daniel's office door.
Just as Daniel pushed the door open, he saw her and immediately tried to reassure her. "Don't worry about this. I'm going down to handle it."
"Forget it," Jillian shook her head. "She's here for me. I should be the one to deal with it."
"Are you sure?" Daniel voiced his concerns.
Jillian smiled. "She's not a flesh-eating monster, and I'm certainly not afraid of her."
Daniel didn't push the issue any further. He gave her a few quick words of advice and let her go.
Jillian took the elevator downstairs.
As the elevator doors slid open, she instantly spotted several staff members standing awkwardly to the side, carefully trying to placate Sylvia.
