They were polite enough, asking Jillian to provide the picture of the snake to assist the hospital with treatment.

The summit organizers and hotel management pleaded endlessly, terrified that if something happened to Sylvia, it would spark a media firestorm and drag The Island Summit and its hosts through the mud.

Jillian remained silent.

Sylvia was a popular public figure. If this blew up, the organizers, the hotel, and even the local government would face immense pressure.

Seeing them beg, she finally softened her stance. "I can send you the photo."

She forwarded the original image to the event manager, who immediately rushed to the hospital.

After the group left, Jillian went downstairs to lock up and caught sight of Killian standing at the end of the pathway.

He had been waiting outside the whole time. Though he hadn't stepped inside, he had likely been listening to the commotion.

She knew very well that Killian was the only one capable of mobilizing the hotel, the police, and the organizers all at once to pressure her.

He had simply used their leverage to force her to hand over the picture, rather than make things truly difficult for her.

It was laughable. For Sylvia's sake, Killian was willing to go to such lengths, acting like some tyrant blinded by a pretty face.

Jillian used to be infatuated with him, but the more she looked at him now, the more she realized that deep down, he was nothing but foolish and selfish.

"Jillian!" Daniel rushed over from a distance.

He had just seen the news about Sylvia's accident in the summit's group chat and rushed over when he heard people were crowded at her door. "Are you okay? Did they give you a hard time?"

"I'm fine. There was no conflict," Jillian shook her head gently.

Daniel breathed a sigh of relief, then turned and spotted Killian standing nearby.
