She looked up only to see Jillian holding her phone, recording the whole thing. Stella immediately reached out to grab it. "Stop filming! Stop! You're making me look ugly!"
"I have to send this to the family group chat so Grandma can see." Jillian blocked her daughter's hands while hitting send. When Judith and Lydia saw the video in the chat, they immediately replied with voice notes full of laughter.
Judith's voice chimed in, "Stop bullying our Stella!"
Stella immediately leaned close to the phone and yelled, "See, Grandma? Mom is bullying me! You have to tell her off when we get home!"
After teasing her daughter, the two wandered back to the mall and grabbed some snacks to hold them over. The afternoon movie hadn't started yet, and while exploring the second floor, they spotted an indoor ice rink. A lot of kids were stumbling around in their skates.
"Stella, want to go take a few laps?"
Jillian poked her gently in the stomach. "Grandma has been cooking so much good food for you these past few days. Have you gained weight?"
"No I haven't!"
Stella eagerly paid for a ticket and grabbed a pair of skates. Most of the kids playing on the ice were amateurs, wobbling all over the place and occasionally crashing into each other.
But the moment Stella stepped onto the ice, her professional foundation was fully on display. Her smooth, fluid strokes immediately drew the attention of passersby, who stopped to watch.
Jillian pulled out her phone again, her face full of pride as she recorded her daughter gliding across the rink.
By the viewing railing on the third floor, Sylvia followed Connor's gaze downward and immediately spotted Jillian holding her phone, taking pictures of the young girl on the ice.
Connor looked absolutely shocked, his tone carrying an indescribable displeasure. "Who is that?"
Killian also got a clear view of the scene below. He was momentarily at a loss for words, unable to formulate a response.
Sylvia let out a contrived, relaxed laugh, deliberately poking at the situation. "She looks pretty cute. Could it be a new little sister your mom had for you? Connor, you'll have a companion to play with from now on. Aren't you happy?"
She reached out to rest her hand on Connor's shoulder. A surge of anger erupted in Connor's chest, and he violently shoved her hand away, his voice suddenly spiking. "I don't have a sister! My mom didn't give me a sister!"
