He looked up, locking his cold, piercing gaze onto Jillian's face. Just as he was about to speak, Sienna stood up from the side, asking curiously, "What's that?"

She moved closer, intending to look.

"It's nothing." Killian slapped his hand over the agreement, picked it up, and locked it inside his desk drawer. His tone was frosty. "We'll discuss this later."

Jillian nodded in understanding.

With Sienna present, it really wasn't the time to discuss a divorce. It would only cause unnecessary drama.

"There's one more thing. About the exhibition gala," Jillian spoke up again.

Killian looked down, flipping open a file on his desk. His expression was hard, his attitude dismissive. "The event has been over for a while. If you have a grievance, take it up with the organizers."

Standing a short distance away, Jillian kept her gaze fixed on him, calm but resolute. "I will certainly take it up with the organizers. But I came here today to tell you that I reached where I am today through my own merit. My success cannot be casually suppressed by anyone's power."

When she previously mentioned moving back to Germany, it was merely her worst-case contingency plan.

She absolutely refused to easily forfeit the justice she was owed.

Hearing the sharp defiance in her words, Sienna instantly raised her voice, questioning her harshly. "What exactly do you mean by that? Are you accusing the Quincy family of bullying people with our power?"

From beginning to end, Jillian never spared Sienna a single glance. Her eyes remained locked on Killian, her tone icy. "Whether that's the case or not, Mr. Quincy knows best."

"We are all adults; we should handle things maturely and openly." Jillian's tone was thick with unmistakable sarcasm. "Using your authority to take personal revenge on a child is both cheap and despicable. I refuse to believe this is how Mr. Quincy typically operates."

Killian finally stopped flipping through the document. He looked up at her, his gaze as sharp as a blade. "Since we're being open, Ms. Jarrett, shouldn't you give me an explanation about the adoption?"

His mind flashed with images of Stella's eyes, profile, and expressions. Every contour and every detail looked far too much like Jillian.

But catching sight of Sienna eagerly eavesdropping out of the corner of his eye, he swallowed the words on the tip of his tongue. He finally said flatly, "Never mind."

Frustrated, he tossed the file back onto the desk. The calm demeanor from moments ago vanished, leaving his chest knotted with dark irritation.
