Usually, when Killian Quincy returned, the staff would announce his arrival in advance. Today, however, the house was completely silent. It seemed Killian was still fuming and had zero desire to see her.

Sienna Sterling had her own pride. While she wasn't Killian's biological mother, he was her husband's illegitimate son. When he was first brought home, she hadn't made a fuss and had agreed to raise him.

Though she hadn't been hands-on with his upbringing, she had always made sure the staff took excellent care of him. Over the years, she had never mistreated him.

Back when Eleanor had considered naming a different heir, Sienna had stood firmly by Killian's side. Granted, that was largely because their public interests were tied together.

Sienna immediately went back to her room, changed into a fresh outfit, and decided to head out to clear her head.

That evening, Jillian Jarrett took her mother, her grandmother, and the two kids to a restaurant she had booked in advance.

"Con, take a look and see what you'd like to eat." Jillian handed him the menu.

Connor Quincy ordered a few of his favorite dishes.

Stella Jarrett happily slid a small gift box across the table. "Here you go, a birthday present just for you."

Connor looked a little sheepish.

On his actual birthday, he had been defensive and hadn't even wanted Stella there. He never expected her to actually remember and prepare a gift for him.

"Thanks," he murmured, taking the box.

"You're welcome!" Stella beamed, her ponytail bouncing slightly, the dimples on her cheeks holding the warmth of the sun.

Caught up in her infectious enthusiasm, Connor couldn't bring himself to be awkward anymore. He turned to Jillian and said, "Mom, ask her what she wants to eat." He handed the menu back.

Jillian noticed the softening in her son's attitude and felt a surge of warmth. She passed the menu to Stella.

Stella picked out her favorites, and Jillian added a few main courses for the adults.
