Silas chimed in, "Exactly. Killian listens to you, so just talk some sense into him."

That very night, Sylvia invited Killian out for dinner.

She dressed impeccably and picked his favorite restaurant. The view from the window was spectacular, the warm amber lighting reflecting beautifully off the emerald waters, creating a deeply romantic atmosphere.

"Stop frowning. Give me a smile," Sylvia teased in a sweet, coaxing tone.

Killian pressed his lips together. His expression softened slightly, but he stayed quiet.

"Are you still giving Sienna the silent treatment?"

Killian flicked his eyes upward. "It's not the silent treatment."

He just genuinely had zero desire to interact with them.

"Sienna just lost control of her temper that day. Besides, she didn't actually hit Connor."

"She ruined Connor's birthday party," Killian stated. The absolute worst offense was her public tantrum. Doing that in front of Connor's classmates and teachers guaranteed the boy would be utterly humiliated at school.

"Then let me apologize on her behalf, okay? Let's drop the anger," Sylvia murmured seductively, looping her arm through his.

Killian frowned, shooting her a dark look. He realized Sylvia didn't comprehend his anger at all.

She thought she could erase the incident with a fancy dinner and a bit of sweet talk, treating his fury like some trivial annoyance.

"It's not that simple," Killian replied flatly.

Sylvia speared a buttered shrimp with her fork and held it to his lips. "You're being unreasonable. Sienna only panicked because she loves Natalie. How can a son hold a grudge against his mother for so long?"

"So, what do you suggest?" Killian countered.

"Holding a grudge won't fix anything, and Sienna is probably heartbroken. Why don't you do me a favor and apologize to her?" Sylvia smiled brightly, her tone sickeningly light. Her long platinum earrings swayed gently, catching the scattered light.

An inexplicable wave of disgust washed over Killian. "Eat by yourself. I have things to do."
