Just then, a warm, insulated container was gently pushed toward her.

"You've been working so hard without a bite to eat. You must be starving, right?"

Jillian startled, her head snapping around. To her absolute shock, Sienna had quietly taken a seat right next to her.

Seeing the deep suspicion on Jillian's face, Sienna quickly softened her voice. "I wasn't following you, and I wasn't eavesdropping. I just waited until everyone left before I came over. This is all warm food, good for your stomach. Just have a little to tide you over."

Jillian was completely bewildered, her tone turning icy. "No, thank you."

She snapped her laptop shut and began packing her bag to leave.

"I really don't have any ulterior motives," Sienna pleaded, stepping in her way, her tone borderline begging. "I just saw you working overtime on an empty stomach and worried you'd make yourself sick. Just take a few bites. I'll leave the second you start eating."

Jillian stared at her, her mind racing with doubt.

She had never seen Sienna act this humble, cautious, or desperate to please.

Besides, this was a highly specialized tech industry banquet. Sienna had no business being here in the first place.

The fact that she showed up explicitly carrying hot food screamed that this was a calculated move.

Reading the skepticism on her face, Sienna quickly unscrewed the lid of the thermos. "Look, it's Velvet Pumpkin Velouté. It's gentle on the stomach. I also brought some whole-grain artisan rolls and a fresh garden salad, all piping hot. It's much better than working through the night on an empty stomach."

Nobody offered this level of kindness without wanting something in return.

Jillian wasn't about to be swayed by a cheap bowl of soup. She was certain Sienna was plotting something.
