In the dim night, the man's low, gravelly voice washed over her, laden with a predatory, mocking edge. "What? We spent day and night together, and you don't even recognize me?"

Jillian froze, her brows slamming together.

The hallway lighting was poor, masking his exact expression, but that suffocatingly familiar voice belonged to absolutely no one else but Killian.

She never expected such vulgar, flirtatious garbage to leave Killian's mouth.

Yet, she couldn't exactly refute him.

They had been married for five years, and for the first three, they had maintained a highly active, normal physical relationship. He wasn't lying.

"Killian, even you need to learn some boundaries," Jillian shot back, her voice dropping several degrees.

He leaned in, his heavy breath ghosting across her ear. "I'm not allowed to joke with my own wife?"

"Who is your wife?" Jillian snapped immediately, her stance unyielding.

A layer of frost instantly hardened in his gaze. "Then who are you? Daniel's girlfriend?"

In the shadows, the black depths of his eyes surged like a violent tide, projecting an overwhelming, crushing dominance.

"It's just a misunderstanding by the other guests," she explained evenly.

"And did you clarify it?"

Jillian took a deep breath, an exasperated sigh building in her chest.

She had already set the record straight when the rumors started. But given that the room was packed with elders and VIPs, she couldn't exactly tackle everyone to the ground and force them to listen.

"How is any of this your business?" she challenged, tilting her chin up.

"The divorce papers have been in my hands for ages. I can sign them whenever I please. Once they're signed, we're done. Whether I'm single or someone's girlfriend will be entirely irrelevant to you."

She paused, adding, "On the contrary, I hear you're the one whose wedding bells are ringing soon. Congratulations in advance."

"You mean that?" he demanded, boring into her eyes.

"Absolutely," Jillian held his gaze without a flinch.
