Jillian spent the entire afternoon reflecting on what happened.

She realized she had been far too impatient.

Her words during the negotiation had been sharp and relentless. Because she despised Killian, she had let her personal feelings bleed into her professional life.

She had wanted to crush him so badly, desperate to see his arrogant, high-and-mighty facade crumble, but she had underestimated his confidence and obstinacy.

Killian already hated her, and today's head-to-head battle had thoroughly enraged him.

If she had known when to compromise, there might have been room to maneuver, and they wouldn't have ended up in this current stalemate.

"Stop overthinking it," Daniel said with a smile, stepping forward to offer some comforting words. "There's nothing else on the schedule for today. Let's clock out early and get some rest."

Jillian nodded, standing up to pack her things.

"I'm actually free right now. Want to head out together?" Daniel asked.

"Where to?"

"How about we visit St. Jude's University?" Daniel suggested.

Jillian considered it and agreed. The St. Jude's campus was at its most beautiful during the transition from late summer to early autumn. The university had a ginkgo grove that was absolutely breathtaking this time of year.

And she hadn't been back to her alma mater in five years.

Feeling a stir of nostalgia, she replied softly, "Sure."

Daniel lowered his eyes, a faint, almost imperceptible smile playing on his lips.

They walked out of the company side by side. Daniel drove, while Jillian sat in the passenger seat.

The car made a smooth trip to the St. Jude's campus. After parking, they strolled along the campus pathways at a leisurely pace, chatting casually.

Young, fresh-faced students passed by them. Some were laughing and talking in groups, while others had their heads down discussing their studies, all radiating vibrant energy.

Looking at the lively scene before them, Daniel sighed softly. "In the blink of an eye, it's been so many years since we graduated."

"Yeah."
