Slap!

Jillian couldn't take it anymore. She swung her hand, landing a sharp, resounding slap squarely across his face.

His head whipped to the side from the force. He pressed his tongue against the inside of his cheek.

Letting out a low scoff, he slowly turned his head back, locking his predatory gaze onto her.

They stood incredibly close.

He could smell the subtle, continuous fragrance radiating from her, and he could see the glossy sheen of unshed tears trembling in her eyes.

It felt exactly like the first time they met, all those years ago.

He had reached out his hand back then. "Jillian Jarrett from the computer science department? I've heard of you."

But she had lost every ounce of her patience. There was no way they could continue the business negotiation now.

She turned on her heel and walked away. Her long hair swept through the air, leaving a faint, lingering scent behind.

But it faded in an instant.

Just as she pulled open the office door, Sylvia aggressively marched up to her. "What gives you the right to hit someone? Who the hell do you think you are, putting your hands on Mr. Quincy..."

Driven by blind fury, Jillian didn't even pause to think. She raised her hand and slapped the other woman hard across the face.

Sylvia stumbled back, immediately raising a hand to strike back.

Jillian grabbed her wrist mid-air and yanked her forcefully forward.

"I haven't even settled the score with you for setting Natalie up with those thugs."

"Don't think having a powerful backer means you can do whatever you want."

Sylvia's expression stiffened, completely forgetting how to react.

Killian strode over, his aura radiating sheer intimidation.

Assuming he was rushing over to protect his precious mistress, Jillian shoved Sylvia straight into his arms, shooting him a vicious glare.

Abandoning any thought of fighting back, Sylvia leaned weakly against him, stumbling pathetically.

"Are you okay?" he asked.

Tears welled up in Sylvia's eyes. She shook her head. "I'm fine. I just never expected her to physically attack you..."
