Without another word, Killian brushed past Jillian. His arm bumped against her shoulder—not violently, but with enough deliberate force to ensure she felt it.

From start to finish, he didn't spare her a single glance, let alone speak a word to her.

As the door slowly clicked shut, the suffocating tension in the room finally dissipated.

Mallory rubbed the back of her head awkwardly, whispering her defense. "I wasn't scared of him just now! I just realized it's trashy to talk about people behind their backs."

Everyone chuckled, seeing right through her tough-girl act, but no one had the heart to call her out.

Sitting back down, Daniel furrowed his brow. "That's weird. Why did he suddenly cave and agree to the partnership?"

Jillian looked down, taking a sip from her water glass. Her tone was perfectly even. "It makes sense. He doesn't have a better option than Project Astra."

Daniel nodded in agreement. "True."

From a purely corporate standpoint, logic always triumphed over emotion. Even if Killian possessed the capital to let Project Voyager burn to the ground, he was still a businessman. He wouldn't throw money away out of spite.

"So all future communications have to go through Sylvia?" Leon asked.

"I'll take over all communications from here on out," Daniel immediately volunteered.

Jillian, however, smiled and shook her head, her gaze steady. "There's no need. I haven't done anything wrong. I refuse to go out of my way to avoid her."

Mallory chimed in instantly, rallying her support. "Exactly! You are his legal wife! She's nothing but a desperate side piece. Since when does the wife hide from the mistress?! Don't worry, Jill. If she tries to give you a hard time, I'll be the first one in the ring to scratch her face off!"

Jillian smiled but remained quiet.

She had never truly feared Sylvia.

Even back in college, she had seen right through her. The other woman was all bark and no bite.

Sylvia's current arrogance was fueled by exactly one thing: Killian's unyielding protection.

Meanwhile, in the adjacent room.

The moment Killian sat back down, Sylvia asked softly, "Where did you go just now?"

"Nowhere important," he replied smoothly. "Just bumped into Daniel and his crew next door. Went over to say hi."

At the mention of Daniel's name, Sylvia's eyes dimmed, a dark, venomous shadow flashing across her face.
