Only the two of them remained in the office.

Jillian's heart went cold as she steered back to the main topic. "I insist. Sylvia cannot stay on the core management team. If you disagree, Mr. Quincy..."

"Do it by your standards," Killian interrupted, finalizing it in one breath.

Jillian blanked for a second.

She never expected him to compromise so cleanly. She had prepared an entire arsenal of arguments to try and convince him.

"Well... thank you for understanding," Jillian said, her tone softening.

It wasn't long before Sylvia returned carrying fresh clothes. Right in front of Jillian, she pouted coquettishly at Killian. "I just had these delivered. The person who brought them didn't realize the zipper is on the back. Could you help me zip it up in a minute?"

"Alright," Killian replied.

Sylvia immediately cast a smug, lingering side-eye toward Jillian.

Jillian closed her eyes, unwilling to stay a second longer. She gathered her files, turned, and walked out.

Just as she shut the door behind her, she distinctly heard the sound of the lounge door opening. It was undoubtedly Killian going to help Sylvia change.

After several grueling days of work, the date for the initial divorce hearing finally arrived.

Jillian had originally intended to personally oversee the trial's details, but the project's crunch phase perfectly overlapped with the court date.

Exhausted from days of high-intensity work, she simply couldn't be in two places at once. She had to leave the entire matter in the hands of her Legal Counsel.

The night before the trial, she had planned to go home and verify the documents with her lawyer. But just as she was clocking out, she received a notification: Killian was hosting a dinner for the entire new management team, and attendance was mandatory.

The dinner was held at a luxurious private restaurant. Killian had booked the entire venue, and the attendees were strictly middle and senior management—no outsiders allowed.

Amidst the pleasantries and mingling, Jillian's phone suddenly rang. She stepped aside to take the call.

After a brief exchange with her lawyer, she hung up. A few moments later, the lawyer called again.

Jillian had no choice but to retreat to a quiet corner once more.
