Jillian chatted with Julian for a few more minutes before they said their goodbyes.
She drove back to Quincy Group. Arriving at the top floor, she saw workers bustling around, moving furniture. Surprised, Jillian walked over and asked, "What's going on?"
"Ms. Jarrett, Mr. Quincy specially arranged this office for you, right near his."
The entire top floor served as Killian's executive suite, complete with a reception room, a private gym, and a media room. The vast, multi-thousand square-foot expanse was practically his exclusive domain.
Even Sylvia's office was down on the floor below.
"There's no need. I won't be working here often."
She was only stationed at Quincy Group because the project had just launched. Once SwiftPath was fully integrated into Project Astra, she would return to her original headquarters. Of course, she might occasionally need to come back to deal with specific issues.
"Mr. Quincy mentioned you'd still need to drop by occasionally, so he specifically had an office prepped for you. Does the style suit your tastes?"
Jillian gave it a cursory glance and nodded. "Thank you. It's fine."
She then headed for Killian's office, knocking on the door. Only after hearing a deep "Come in" did she push it open.
"I appreciate the gesture, Mr. Quincy, but I don't need an office."
Killian glanced up at her. "You'll still need to report back occasionally."
Jillian hesitated for a moment, deciding it wasn't worth picking a fight over something so trivial. It was his company; he could do whatever he wanted.
"In that case, thank you," she said.
Just then, a senior executive walked in. After giving Killian a brief status report, he noticed Jillian and smiled. "Ms. Jarrett, I didn't see you around this morning."
"I had some matters to attend to and took the morning off," Jillian replied.
"Oh, right, look at my memory. You mentioned yesterday that your divorce hearing was today. How did it go? Smooth sailing?"
Jillian shook her head. "The divorce wasn't granted in the first instance."
