Daniel smiled. "Alright. Whenever you need anything, my door is always open. Oh, by the way, Sylvia scheduled a walkthrough of the Lightboat facility with our team this afternoon. Are you joining?"
Jillian shook her head.
Professionally and personally, Sylvia definitely didn't want her there, and she certainly had no desire to see Sylvia either.
"I'll handle it myself, then," Daniel said.
Jillian had to drop by Killian's office that afternoon anyway.
Later that day, she arrived at his office and handed over several documents.
Killian took them expressionlessly and flipped through the pages. Neither of them said a word.
They both knew the project integration had finished its initial prep phase. The execution was now in the hands of the teams. As executives, they wouldn't have many opportunities to interact professionally moving forward. The next time they'd meet for work would likely be at the annual debrief next year.
"I won't be coming around here much from now on. You can take that office space back, Mr. Quincy," Jillian said.
"Keep it for now," Killian replied, his brows furrowing.
Jillian assumed he was displeased with the reports, but Killian stated coldly, "You've been neglecting Connor lately. He's upset."
"I call him every few days, and I see him on the weekends. I haven't noticed anything wrong with his mood," she countered.
"He's older now. He doesn't just say everything that's on his mind. Besides, you don't know him as well as I do."
Jillian was at a loss for words. She felt the heavy sarcasm laced in his tone.
Sure enough, Killian made no effort to hide it. He snapped the folder shut and looked at her with pure mockery. "You care more about a daughter you have no blood relation to than your own biological son. Anyone in Connor's shoes would be miserable."
Jillian took a deep breath. "Weren't you accusing Stella of being my illegitimate daughter just a little while ago? Now you suddenly acknowledge we aren't related?"
