"Goodbye, Mr. Quincy," Jillian replied breezily, turning on her heel and walking out.

Killian stared at her retreating figure, his dark eyes unreadable, lost in his own thoughts.

Suddenly, his phone rang. It was Eleanor. Killian barely paid attention to her chatter until she snapped, "Did you hear a word I just said?"

He finally tuned back in. "I got it."

"You haven't seen him in years. Push your meetings back for the next couple of days. No matter what happened, it's always good for a father and son to reunite."

Killian hung up on her without a second thought.

He rarely did that to Eleanor.

On the other end, Eleanor glared at her dead screen, her lips twitching in annoyance. She looked across the room at Sean Quincy, her eldest son and the former heir to the Quincy empire—before his own son, Killian, had brutally usurped him.

Sean had been rebellious in his youth. Trapped in a miserable marriage, he had spitefully rebelled against his parents. He hadn't just fathered an illegitimate child; he had spent years living abroad, refusing to come home.

"Judging by his reaction, he's definitely holding a grudge," Eleanor scoffed in disapproval. "You completely neglected him growing up. He got married, and your grandson is already several years old, yet you haven't shown your face once. Anyone would be bitter."

Sean was refined and undeniably handsome. Though he was older now, the traces of his youthful charm were still striking.

"I know I failed him, but sometimes you don't have a choice in life."

Eleanor sighed in frustration. If they dragged up the past, her eldest son would undoubtedly start blaming her and her husband for suffocating him and meddling in his marriage.

Even Eleanor didn't have the energy to rehash that ancient history.

She gave a soft scoff. "Fine. You're back, and that's that. Just watch yourself—stay out of Sienna's way, and for God's sake, don't start a fight with her."

"Understood." Sean stood up. The staff hurried over to grab his luggage, escorting him to his old quarters.
