Returning to The Yale Residences, Jillian Jarrett made a call, telling Judith Jarrett the results of her consultation.

Judith and Lydia Lowell choked up upon hearing the news, their hearts aching for her.

Jillian patiently comforted them for a long while.

"Since the surgery is scheduled, you need to come home right away so Lydia and I can take proper care of you," Judith said, her voice thick with emotion.

Jillian paused, instinctively glancing toward Killian Quincy, who sat quietly nearby.

"The procedure is in a few days, and traveling back and forth would be too exhausting. I'll just head straight to the hospital from here once everything is arranged," Jillian explained softly.

"But how can I have any peace of mind with you staying at Killian's place? What if he treats you terribly again..."

Jillian was about to reassure her when Killian suddenly stood up and strode over.

Remembering how he had snatched her phone last time, she instinctively tightened her grip on the device, fully on guard.

Killian stopped in front of her. His expression was cold, but his tone was surprisingly calm. "Give me the phone. Let me say a few words to her."

Jillian hesitated for a few seconds before finally handing it over.

Killian spoke into the receiver to Judith. "Jillian is checking into the hospital tomorrow. I'll send you the address and room number afterward so you can come take care of her whenever you like."

With that, he handed the phone back to Jillian and turned to walk out of the living room.

Jillian was caught slightly off guard.

She had fully expected him to fly into a rage as usual, never anticipating that he would willingly explain the situation and ease her mother's worries.

Jillian offered a few more words of comfort to her mother and grandmother before hanging up, then stepped out of the living room to get some fresh air in the courtyard.

Killian was sitting beneath the shaded pavilion.

The slanted afternoon sun cast a patchwork of light and shadows over him, splitting his figure into distinct halves of dark and light.

Dappled sunlight fell across his sharp, striking features, highlighting a sleek and hardened jawline that made him look like a meticulously sculpted masterpiece—aloof yet undeniably captivating.

Jillian walked over and took a seat opposite him.
