Jillian pushed the door open, marched straight to his desk, and cut to the chase. "Whatever questions you have, let's hear them."

Killian glanced at the watch on his wrist. "It's past working hours."

"That's fine. I can stay on the clock for a few more minutes."

"I don't do overtime." Killian pointed to the coffee table. "Let's eat first." Without waiting for a response, he buzzed the intercom, ordering his secretaries to wheel the food in.

Moments later, Nate and a few secretaries pushed the dining carts into the room. It wasn't until they stepped inside that they realized Jillian was the only other person there. A wave of utter confusion hit them.

The staff meticulously arranged a sprawling banquet on the table before quietly slipping out of the room.

Jillian stared at the absurdly lavish spread. "I thought you were hosting a client for lunch."

"There is no client."

There were over a dozen dishes covering the table, including extravagant, heavy-hitting items like Australian lobster.

Jillian couldn't help but feel a surge of disgust. She hadn't realized that even when dining alone, Killian was this grotesquely wasteful.

"You go ahead and eat. I'll just give you the report and leave, or I can brief you while you eat. Up to you."

Killian had just settled onto the sofa, but her words instantly killed his appetite.

"Tell Mr. Cross to come down here this afternoon and brief me himself."

Jillian felt a suffocating tightness in her chest. She had literally suggested sending Mr. Cross that morning, but Killian had insisted on her coming in person. Now that she was here, he was refusing to listen to the report. He was just messing with her on purpose.

Convinced he was abusing his power to get back at her, Jillian's gaze turned frosty, her voice lacing with anger. "In that case, I'm leaving."

"Wait." Killian stood up, walked behind his desk, pulled open a drawer, and brought out a red gift box.

"What is that?"

Killian avoided her eyes, his expression carefully blank. "Connor told me to give this to you. He said it's to help you regain your strength."
