The Ex-Wife He Can’t Have novel Chapter 458

Jillian froze.

The man tipped his hat up, revealing a strikingly handsome, impossible-to-miss face.

"Bash? What are you doing here?"

"I'm shooting a show in the next city over, so I came straight here to see you. I have to head back first thing the day after tomorrow."

Jillian did the math. The studio where he was filming really was only a two-hour drive from Hartford.

"How did you know I was staying at this hotel?"

"You literally told me the name of it earlier. Did you already forget, you brilliant idiot?"

Bash reached out and gave her ear a playful tug.

Jillian swatted his hand away and pushed the door open. Bash immediately moved to follow her inside.

Jillian planted her hand against the doorframe, looking conflicted. "Didn't you book your own room?"

"I did. It's one floor down. I specifically booked it to be close to you. Why are you so defensive? I just want to talk for a few minutes and then I'll go. I'm not some creep," Bash complained, looking pitifully wronged.

Jillian hesitated for a second, but ultimately relented, stepping aside to let him in.

Bash wandered into the room, scanning the layout, and seemed fairly satisfied with the setup.

Jillian was utterly exhausted from running around all day. She tossed her purse onto the couch and dragged herself into the bathroom to wash her face and take off her makeup.

When she emerged, her hair was pushed back with a headband, her bare face glowing with a soft, clean radiance.

She didn't even have the energy for her skincare routine. Instead, she grabbed her phone, immediately diving back into emails, texts, and rapid-fire business calls.

Only when everything was finally squared away did she notice Bash sitting silently on the sofa, his eyes glued to her the entire time.

Jillian frowned. "Why have you been staring at me this whole time?"

Bash shook his head slowly, his expression serious. "It feels like forever since I've seen you. I just wanted to look at you."

Jillian's heart gave a sudden, traitorous lurch.
