Sienna spent the entire afternoon in a state of high anxiety. By the time evening rolled around, she couldn't take it anymore and called Killian.
She quickly recounted her lunch with Sean.
"Did he really say that?" Killian asked.
"Yes."
Sienna grew more panicked by the second. "Killian, do you think he already knows?"
Killian wasn't entirely sure. The Quincy family possessed an incredibly vast network, capable of digging up almost anyone's background.
Even though Sean had stayed out of the company's daily operations for years, he still had full access to all the family's resources.
"I'll go talk to him. Just keep your head down for now."
"Okay," Sienna quickly agreed.
That night, Killian returned to the manor alone.
His great-grandmother complained bitterly, insisting he should have brought Connor back with him.
Killian let her finish before flatly stating, "I'm going to see my father."
The old woman beamed. "It's about time. Seeing your relationship with him improve gives me peace of mind."
Killian maintained his icy demeanor and said nothing.
He headed to Sean's quarters, where Sean, expecting him, was sitting alone at a chessboard.
Seeing Killian approach, Sean looked up. "Care for a game with your old man?"
Killian didn't answer, simply taking the seat across from him.
"I taught you when you were little," Sean reminisced.
"I don't remember," Killian replied.
Sean's expression tightened awkwardly, and he made the first move.
Neither of them was actually focused on the game. Soon enough, Sean asked, "What brings you back today?"
Instead of answering, Killian countered, "How many times have you sought out Jillian lately?"
Sean didn't deny it. "A few times."
"And you've been looking into my old friends?"
"I just want to understand you better..."
Killian captured one of Sean's pieces. "Overreaching isn't a good look on you. I told you before, stay out of my business."
Sean frowned, thinking for a moment, before suddenly tossing his piece onto the board.
"If that's how it is, let me make this very clear: you must divorce Jillian!"
Killian stared at him coldly. "No one dictates what I must do."
