Following the rumors, the hashtag #KillianProposes# skyrocketed to the top of The Viral Feed.

But by the early hours of the morning, the trending topic vanished without a trace, wiped so clean it was as if it had never existed. Even the gossip accounts had deleted their posts.

First thing the next morning, Sylvia arrived at the office and pushed open the door to Killian's suite.

Killian was already seated at his desk, head down, entirely focused on a stack of documents.

Sylvia walked in with a hint of nervousness, her smile gentle. "Killian."

He gave a faint hum of acknowledgment, glancing up. "Did you sleep well last night?"

"I slept great." Sylvia carefully gauged his expression as she softly explained, "It's just that there was so much ridiculous news online yesterday. I was only celebrating my birthday, and people were actually spreading rumors that we were getting married."

Killian kept his eyes lowered, offering no response.

Her anxiety spiked, and she hurriedly continued, "And those gossip bloggers pretending to be insiders, making up lies about you proposing. Please don't take it to heart, Killian. The internet is full of baseless rumors, so you really don't need to pay attention to them."

Killian gave another flat hum. "I know. That's why I had the trending topics suppressed last night."

A flicker of unease crossed Sylvia's eyes, mingled with resentment and disappointment, before she murmured, "So that's what happened. No wonder the hashtag disappeared so fast. Knowing you handled it makes me feel so much better. Oh, by the way, I had someone look into things yesterday, and it turns out we misunderstood Jillian. She met with Bash purely for business."

Killian's pen paused. He looked up, his gaze turning freezing cold. "What kind of business could those two possibly have?"

He had run a background check on Bash before. He knew the kid came from an average family, barely graduated high school, and only made it into showbiz because some backers liked his pretty face.

What business could she possibly have with someone like that?

"Don't be so quick to judge, Killian," Sylvia said with an anxious laugh. "Jillian hosted a dinner with Mr. Sterling yesterday. She specifically set it up to help Bash secure a brand endorsement for Mr. Sterling's new smartphone line."

Killian's brow furrowed tightly as he let out a cold scoff, utterly dismissive.

In his eyes, that didn't qualify as real business at all.

What Jillian was doing now was no different from those rich, lonely housewives who threw money at young actors just to fill the void in their miserable lives.

"To be fair, Jillian hasn't really done anything wrong," Sylvia added, softly defending her. "It's because you canceled Bash's contract earlier. She probably felt guilty and wanted to make it up to him by securing a new deal."

"No," Killian said flatly.

"What?"

"He's her boyfriend. She's actively trying to boost his career."

Sylvia froze.

She certainly hoped that was the case, but she hadn't dared to spell it out in front of Killian.
