Killian's eyes darkened, his expression turning ice-cold. "You're delusional."

He forcefully shoved Jillian away, the movement a bit rougher than intended.

He casually adjusted his slightly rumpled suit, his tone turning indifferent. "The family has a networking event next week. Bring this 'boyfriend' of yours. If I'm in a good mood, I'll sign the papers."

With that, he didn't spare either of them another glance and turned to walk away.

Jillian let out a massive sigh of relief.

Regardless of the back-and-forth, Killian had finally agreed to the divorce. She wasn't about to waste this hard-won opportunity.

Inside the restaurant, only Jillian and Sean remained.

Jillian looked at him, revisiting her earlier question. "What were you trying to say earlier?"

Sean shook his head, the urgency from moments ago completely gone. "Nothing. I just wanted you and Killian to make a clean break. Since he's willing to let go, let's just leave it at that."

Jillian didn't believe him for a second, but she was entirely out of patience to dig deeper.

She grabbed her purse from the table and walked out of the restaurant.

Outside, Sean exited just in time to see Killian leaning against the wall, smoking with one hand shoved in his pocket.

He walked over, attempting to smooth things over. "I know you hate being forced into things, but I simply cannot accept Jillian's background..."

Killian slowly turned his head, his gaze locking onto Sean.

His eyes were biting and completely devoid of warmth, seemingly piercing straight through to Sean's soul.

Sean's heart gave an involuntary jolt, a sudden wave of panic washing over him.

Killian stared at him for a few agonizing seconds before turning away in total silence.

Back at the office, Killian's demeanor was perfectly composed. Cold and unbothered, he returned to the files on his desk as if the earlier confrontation had never happened.

A perfectly mixed beverage was quietly set on his desk.

Killian glanced up, saw it was Caleb, and asked with his usual strictness, "I don't drink sugar during work hours. Only coffee. Did you forget the rules?"

Caleb lowered his head slightly, answering honestly, "I know. But I thought you were in a bad mood, and something sweet might help."

"I'm not upset. Take it away," Killian commanded, leaving zero room for debate.

Caleb had no choice but to take the drink and exit the office.

The moment he stepped out, Nate, who had been hovering nearby, swooped in with a grin, whispering, "What happened earlier? The boss rushed out and rushed back. Did something go down?"

Caleb offered a polite smile, sidestepping the question. "It's not my place to discuss the boss's business."
