"I hate waiting too," Jillian replied coolly.
She steadied herself, cast one final glance at Killian, linked her arm through Bash's, and walked away.
Sienna stood frozen in place, her eyes bloodshot. She closed them tightly, a suffocating wave of despair washing over her. No matter how much she resented it, the ending was written in stone.
Sean, however, felt a sudden twinge of guilt and tried to go after her. "Jillian, you really should take the hundred million..."
Killian's voice sliced through the air like a blade. "Trying to play the good guy now? Do you honestly think she cares about your charity?"
Sean let out a heavy sigh. It was true he wanted them divorced—he genuinely believed the marriage was a mistake and couldn't stomach Jillian's background.
But he had never intended to leave her destitute. He prided himself on being a gentleman with boundaries, unlike those arrogant nouveau riche.
Now that Jillian had walked away with absolutely nothing, it made the Quincy family look like tyrannical bullies.
He hated giving people a reason to gossip.
Killian didn't say another word. He simply turned and walked away.
Only Sienna and Sean were left standing in the desolate corridor.
Watching Sienna look completely broken, Sean felt another sharp pang of guilt. He reached out to support her. "Let me take you to sit down. We can grab something to eat and you can catch your breath."
"Don't touch me! Looking at you makes me sick!" Sienna violently shoved his hand away, her voice dripping with absolute revulsion. Without looking back, she stormed off.
Sean stared at the empty hallway and let out a long, defeated sigh.
That night, Jillian slept better than she had in years.
She had assumed that ending a ten-year marriage would keep her tossing and turning all night, but she was out the second her head hit the pillow, sleeping straight through till dawn.
Just before 8 AM, the morning sun spilled through the bedroom window.
Jillian sat up with a start, frantically checked her phone, and let out a massive breath. Thank God, she hadn't overslept.
She got up, washed her face, changed, and ate breakfast. Her routine was methodical, completely identical to any other day.
She had already requested the morning off from Daniel the night before, explaining she needed to file for her divorce. He had approved it instantly.
At 8:20 AM, Jillian was dressed and ready to go. Watching the clock tick on her phone, a tiny prick of anxiety surfaced. After a moment of hesitation, she sent Killian a text: "We agreed on 9 AM. Don't forget."
Over in the Quincy Tech executive suite.
Killian glanced at the message, his face completely expressionless, and placed the phone face-down on his desk.
He had arrived exceptionally early today, eating breakfast at his desk. The meal had been hand-delivered by Sylvia, who had made it herself.
Sylvia was in an incredible mood. She had worn a stunning crimson dress that perfectly accentuated her figure, the triumphant joy impossible to hide in her eyes.
She stood in front of Killian, asking softly, "Did you really sign the divorce papers yesterday?"
