"Is there nothing else you want to say?" Killian called out suddenly.

Jillian paused and looked back at him. After two seconds of silence, she said smoothly, "I expect you to be on time the day we finalize our divorce. Don't make me wait again."

With that, she didn't linger, striding right out of the office.

Outside, Sienna immediately rushed up to her. "Are you alright? Are you hurt?"

Jillian's expression remained neutral as she pulled her arm away without answering, walking straight toward Daniel Langley, who was waiting for her.

"I'm fine," Jillian said softly. "She might press charges against me, though."

Daniel's tone was unwavering. "Don't worry. I'll handle everything."

Jillian turned her head, catching sight of Connor Quincy standing a short distance away.

The little boy had witnessed the entire chaotic scene. He stood perfectly still, staring unblinkingly at her, his eyes wide with confusion and helplessness.

Jillian felt a sharp twinge in her chest.

She had just publicly assaulted the Sylvia he liked so much. She could only imagine what he thought of her now.

By then, several other alumni, and even a few of her former professors, had crowded around.

"Jillian, what happened in there? You and Sylvia..."

They all looked awkward, clearly dying to know the gossip but too polite to ask directly.

Today was the university's anniversary. Jillian had never intended to cause a scene.

"I'm sorry for making a fool of myself in front of everyone," she said with a polite smile.

"Sylvia's camp is saying you bullied her unprovoked, and she's threatening to sue," an old classmate warned anxiously.

Jillian glanced over at Sylvia, who was still sobbing, surrounded by a gaggle of consoling friends.

It seemed that while Jillian had been talking to Killian in private, Sylvia had put on a stellar performance as the victim, undoubtedly trashing her to gain sympathy.

To be fair, Jillian had been the one throwing hands in broad daylight.

Sylvia's victim routine was a calculated move to ruin Jillian's reputation and paint her as a violent, unhinged lunatic.

Jillian couldn't have cared less at this point. She smoothed her hair and raised her voice so everyone could hear. "Every slap I deliver is well-deserved. Next time someone acts like trash, they'll get the exact same treatment."

Her words were pointed, making it obvious to everyone listening that there was far more to the story than a simple catfight.

Hearing this, Sylvia wailed even louder, milking the victim role for all it was worth.

Jillian ignored her and, under Daniel's escort, prepared to get into his car.

"Jillian," Caleb suddenly called out, jogging over breathlessly. He held out a pair of sneakers with both hands.

Jillian looked at him in surprise.

"Mr. Quincy asked me to give these to you. Put them on, they're your size, you don't have to worry."

Jillian hesitated, her freezing toes curling slightly against the pavement.

Killian got these for her?

Their argument had only ended ten minutes ago; he must have ordered Caleb to buy them immediately.

Still... he was only doing this to smooth things over for Sylvia.

Jillian wasn't about to be bought off with a pair of shoes.

"Thanks, but I don't need them."
