Mallory Vaughn received the news that Killian Quincy was dropping the issue, meaning the hospital wouldn't have to relocate. Naturally, she was thrilled.

"Let's go. My treat. We're going out to celebrate," Mallory said over the phone.

Jillian Jarrett smiled, glancing back at Stella.

Sensing her hesitation, Judith Jarrett quickly urged, "Go out and have fun with your friend. I'll take care of Stella. The little one is nothing like Connor—she's so quiet and well-behaved."

Jillian nodded.

Judith had noticed the changes in her daughter over the past few years. Even though she didn't know about the severe depression, she knew it wasn't healthy for Jillian to be trapped at home without any social life. She wholeheartedly supported Jillian working and interacting with friends. Coming over to watch Stella was her way of giving Jillian some much-needed personal time.

When Jillian arrived at the meeting spot, Mallory was already waiting.

"Come on, drinks and dinner are on me tonight," Mallory declared. "We're going to feast, hit the bar, and I'm going to hire a dozen male models just to piss off that bastard Killian."

Jillian nervously glanced around.

"Relax," Mallory laughed. "Unless Killian has supersonic hearing, there's no way he can hear us from halfway across the city. If he does, I'll eat my words."

Jillian offered a small smile.

Though Mallory seemed to have changed a lot since their college days, her core personality remained the same—bold, passionate, and fiercely outspoken. Jillian, being naturally introverted, had always loved Mallory's vibrant energy. It was contagious.

They went to a high-end restaurant, where Mallory generously ordered a massive spread.

"I've been pulling my hair out over this hospital relocation mess for days. You have no idea how relieved I was when I got the news yesterday," Mallory said between bites. She suddenly paused. "Wait, how did you know Killian was dropping it?"

Her phone buzzed. She glanced at the screen, and her brow furrowed.

Jillian immediately tensed. "What's wrong? Did something happen with the hospital?"

"Killian just donated ten million dollars to my foundation. Is he out of his mind..."

Mallory instantly regretted the curse word. She respected every donor, but Killian's sudden generosity left her completely baffled.

Jillian, however, wasn't surprised. Killian was actually a highly socially responsible entrepreneur who heavily supported charities. His previous targeting of Mallory was nothing more than him venting on Sylvia's behalf.

It just proved that a man like Killian would only break his own rules and lose control for his true love.

Jillian silently took a spoonful of soup. Even though she had long accepted Sylvia's supreme status in Killian's heart, having it confirmed once again still sent a suffocating wave of despair through her chest.
