Gibson was an excellent doctor, and he was close friends with Killian. There was no way he was oblivious to his sister destroying Killian's marriage.

Yet, he hadn't made a single move to stop it. If anything, he was frequently seen hanging out with Killian and Sylvia.

Human nature was truly a complex thing.

As Gibson asked a few more questions, Jillian provided all the answers, but her underlying coldness was impossible for him to ignore.

Coupled with how she had deliberately avoided him at the bar previously...

He couldn't help but let out a soft chuckle. "I thought we had a pretty good doctor-patient dynamic going. I admit, I was quite surprised when you suddenly requested to switch doctors."

He was practically begging for an explanation.

But Jillian had zero desire to offer one.

She lowered her gaze, thoroughly unwilling to engage in any further conversation with him.

Gibson had no choice but to stand up.

"Are you here to see Sylvia? She mentioned the two of you went to college together."

Gibson suddenly felt a bit foolish. Based on her glacial attitude, she clearly wasn't here for him.

Jillian shook her head. "I'm just taking care of a personal errand."

"I see."

Gibson decided not to press the issue. He nodded politely and bid his farewells.

He hadn't walked far when his phone buzzed. He answered it. It was Sylvia.

"Are you with Killian?" Gibson asked.

"How did you know, Gibson?"

Gibson sighed, his face a mask of exasperation. "You vanished the second you woke up. Who else would you be with if not Killian?"

"Ugh, drop the lecture, Gibson. It's not going to be that easy for me to see Killian anymore," Sylvia complained bitterly.

"Why not?"

"His wife moved back in. The Quincy estate keeps calling them every other day, pressuring them to play happy couple. Killian is under a lot of stress right now." Her voice dripped with frustration.

"I thought you said she moved out?"

"Eleanor found out and marched straight over to The Yale Residences to lay down the law. Think about it, Gibson. Eleanor barely ever leaves the estate. How else would she know they were separated unless that manipulative bitch purposefully tipped her off?"

Gibson stood there helplessly. He knew calling her back was useless, so he fired off a text instead.

[Whatever happens, you absolutely cannot move in with Killian right now. Have some self-respect, do you hear me?]

Sylvia didn't reply.

Growing anxious, Gibson sent a voice memo:

"Killian's wife was cunning enough to trap him; she'll have no problem dealing with you. I'm only doing this to protect you from getting hurt."

"Fine, I get it!"

Gibson breathed a sigh of relief. His sister could be incredibly spoiled, but she still listened to him when it counted.

He turned his head one last time, but Jillian was already gone.

He scanned the area but couldn't spot her anywhere.

After hesitating for a moment, he pushed open the front doors and headed inside.

In the hallway, he bumped into a maid carrying a tray of half-eaten snacks out of Silas's study. "Do we have guests?" he asked, surprised.
