Chapter 215
:..
Eight takin came thundering down the cliff one after another, letting out deep, rumbling moos, just like a bunch of grumpy bros looking for trouble.
One of takin said, “Joking around is one thing, but don’t mess with your Big Bull!”
“Alright, brothers, let’s turn up the heat on these two-leggers!”
“Today, we’ll show you what a real butt-whooping feels like!”
With every stomp from the takin herd, it felt like an earthquake was rolling through, making everyone’s hearts skip a beat.
Simon was worried Nina might not have the strength to keep running, so he was just about to scoop her up and make a break for it.
But then, to his surprise, Nina suddenly stopped in her tracks.
Her tiny figure looked like a sapling about to be snapped in half by a stampede of massive takin.
Simon knew his sister was never the type to take risks lightly. If she was doing this, she must have reasons.
“Nina!” Simon called out.
Even though he knew she was confident, Simon couldn’t help but worry.
He instinctively rushed forward, his broad shoulders firmly shielding her behind him.
The takin herd was almost on top of them, now just 30 feet away.
They charged like heavy tanks, white vapor blasting from their nostrils, horns aimed straight at Simon and
Nina.
Elias realized Simon and Nina had fallen behind, so he doubled back. When he saw the scene unfolding, he went white as a sheet, his hand flying to his sidearm.
“Dear lord, please don’t let anything happen to these two baby bumps of Jelasburg Police Department Headquarters!” Elias thought.
‘How the hell am I supposed to explain this if something goes wrong?’ Elias fretted.
Nina screamed at the top of her lungs, “Hold up! I know you didn’t kill anyone.
“I’m not like the others, I’m here to clear your name,
“If you send me flying, you’ll be stuck with a bad reputation forever.”
The angry takin all slammed on the brakes at once.

They might not see well, but their hearing was top-notch. They heard Nina loud and clear.
The lead male takin screeched to a halt, their massive hooves digging deep into the dirt, plowing up long furrows in the ground.
The takin behind were totally caught off guard and slammed right into the rear ends of the ones ahead.
“Moo! Ouch, my butt!” one of them bellowed.
“Moo! Now my horns are filthy!” another complained.
In an instant, the once menacing takin formation looked just like a highway pileup.
Takin tumbled and rolled. Their chunky legs were all tangled together.
Some of them leapt up in surprise, mooing in a mix of confusion and irritation.
Dust exploded everywhere, swallowing them up, and you could see pure shock and utter bewilderment written all over their huge faces.
The lead takin at the front cocked his head to the side.
His big, round eyes were filled with surprisingly cute confusion. “Wait a second, did that two-legger just understand what we were saying?
“And she said she wants to clear our name?”
The takin all looked at each other, and the whole angry vibe instantly turned into a weird, awkward silence.
All you could see were their wide, bewildered eyes. They thought, ‘Who am I? Where am I? What did she just say?’
“Boss, this wasn’t in the plan!” one of them muttered.
“So do we still charge or not?” another asked, totally lost.
Nina called out, “Hey, Big Bull and sis, I’m an animal communicator, I can actually understand what you’re saying.
“I know you didn’t kill anyone. You’ve been framed, and I get why you’re so angry,” she added.
Nina pointed at Elias, who was in uniform.
“See? I brought a human law enforcement oflicer with me, just to clear your name!” she said.
Elias was finally getting it from what Nina said that takin weren’t the ones who did the killing.
He let his hand drop away from his weapon, finally relaxing a little.
But the fact remained, the extensive wounds on the bodies were clearly caused by takin horns.

Even though Elias was still puzzled, he put on his most respectful face and said, “Yeah, yeah, we screwed up. yesterday. We’re here today to make it right and apologize.”
The lead takin’s temper flared up again when he saw Elias in uniform. “Hmph, it’s those people in blue coats, and the ones in white, too!
“Yesterday, they tried to gang up on us! Even wanted to jab us with needles!
“We didn’t even do anything!”
The takin thought, ‘We are so wronged, but we just keep quiet about it.’
Nina called out, “It’s all a big misunderstanding, I swear!
“To make it up to you, we brought some tasty salt blocks as a peace offering.
“Simon, toss out the salt blocks!” Nina nudged Simon with her shoulder.
Simon didn’t hesitate. He pulled out the salt blocks from his bag and tossed them with perfect aim, landing them just the right distance in front of the takin herd.
Elias watched Simon’s flawless aim, surprise flashing in his eyes. ‘Whoa, this guy’s got moves!’ he thought.
Nina had picked up those salt blocks as a backup after hearing there were takin in the mountains. She never expected they would come in handy this fast.
Nina thought, ‘Guess the old folks were right. Never show up empty-handed when you’re out dealing with the world. That’s just how things roll.
The takin herd stared at the salt blocks in bewilderment.
Nina explained, “Hey guys, this is a peace offering to make up for all the hassle humans have given you lately.”
She hadn’t even finished speaking when the rich, unmistakable smell of salt instantly spread through the air.
The takin might mostly munch on plants, but with their massive bodies and nonstop activity, they burn through salt like crazy.
Getting enough salt is a must for them. They practically go wild for it.
All of a sudden, the once fierce takin herd started twitching their noses in unison.
