Chapter 254
The Psychic Turtle stretched out comfortably in its tank, “Finally, I don’t have to be forced by that annoying person to act all mystical anymore. This is life! Just kicking back and living a good turtle life!”
Nina took the tank from the officer and locked eyes with the Psychic Turtle inside, both sizing each other up.
The Psychic Turtle recognized her and started tapping its little claws against the glass. “Hey, it’s you! The clever human who can understand us and bust that villain master!”
Nina grinned at it. “Hey, could you do us a favor?”
The Psychic Turtle pulled its head halfway into its shell warily. ‘You’re not trying to use me to fool people. again, are you?’
“Of course not!” Nina laughed, flashing her badge. “I’m an official animal communicator. Basically, I help the police crack cases by talking to animals.”
She pointed at the chubby bat and Pearlie, who were goofing around nearby. “See those two? They’ve got steady gigs as special consultants, helping the cops catch the bad guys.”
The Psychic Turtle poked its head out, curious. “A steady gig? Is that some kind of delicious food?”
Nina’s eyes crinkled with a smile as she explained, “It means the government will set you up with an awesome aquarium. It’ll have the latest filtration system, you’ll get nutritious turtle food every day, and a professional vet will give you regular checkups.
“You won’t have to work hard at all. All you have to do is chill in the water and paddle around whenever you
want.”
The Psychic Turtle’s head popped all the way out of its shell. “Wait, for real? There’s actually a deal this good?”
Nina grinned and tapped its shell. “You got it! Help us find the evidence in the lake, and you’ll land yourself an official position and set for life!”
The usually chill Psychic Turtle suddenly got all fired up, waving its front claws and splashing water everywhere. “I’m in! Count me in! I’ll totally help you out!”
Nina grinned, “By the way, do you have a name? What should I call you?”
The Psychic Turtle puffed up with pride. [Just call me Master Turtle. It sounds like a real grand vibe to it!”
“Alright, Master Turtle, let’s get started!” Nina said.
With Master Turtle in her arms, Nina headed to the lake and explained in detail what the gloves and-shoe
covers looked like.
As an aquatic turtle, its big, round eyes were like natural goggles. Its underwater vision was way better than on land.

Sure, its eyesight wasn’t as sharp as a human’s, but it could spot colors easily, which was a huge advantage when searching for things.
“You can rally your turtle and fish buddies in the lake to join the search,” Nina suggested. Just let them know I’ve got some tasty fish food as a reward for everyone who helps out!”
Then she scattered a handful of her specially prepared fish food into the water.
She’d spent ages perfecting this secret recipe, and today it was finally coming in handy.
As soon as the food hit the water, ripples spread across the lake as countless little fish swarmed to the surface, all fighting for a bite..
Master Turtle wasted no time, scrambling into the water with all four claws.
This little turtle was an absolute champ at diving. It could hang out underwater for hours on end!
The Cloudville cops watching nearby were totally mesmerized.
One of the young officers couldn’t help but lean in and ask, “Ms. Summer, is that secret bait of yours for sale? This stuff is insane! I wouldn’t even need to chum the water with this!”
Nina couldn’t help but laugh and thought, ‘Bet he’s a hardcore fisherman’
In less than half an hour, something big suddenly erupted right in the middle of the lake.
The next scene had everyone watching with their jaws on the floor!
The turtles popped up one after another, lined up like a little parade on the water.
Each one had a piece of evidence clamped in its mouth, either a glove or a shoe cover!
A couple of big fish swam up behind them, using their heads to shove the evidence toward the shore.
In no time, two pairs of gloves and two pairs of shoe covers were laid out neatly on the bank, every single piece accounted for.
This fish-and-turtle “special ops squad” was crazy efficient. They pulled off in half an hour what would’ve taken the pros a whole day!
Nina scattered all the special bait she’d brought into the lake, a heartfelt thank-you to the turtles and fish who’d helped out.
Danny’s legs went weak, and he could barely stand.
Alice’s vision went black, and she blurted out, “This is insane! How is this even possible?!”
The Cloudville cops were absolutely stunned, jaws practically on the floor. Someone couldn’t help but exclaim, “Holy crap, who needs a salvage crew after this?
“Professor Summer, have you ever thought about putting together a professional animal salvage squad? The

efficiency is just insane!”

The forensic team quickly moved in, carefully sealing all the evidence in plastic bags to be rushed straight to the lab for DNA testing.
Nina looked up at Simon. “Do these gloves and shoe covers that got soaked in the lake still work as evidence?”
Simon took the evidence bag. “Lake water might mess up the fingerprints, but it won’t touch the important stuff, the DNA.”
He explained, “Even if they’ve been underwater, as long as they haven’t totally fallen apart, we can still pull out skin cells and sweat left behind by whoever wore them.
“Plus, there’s a good chance the victim’s DNA is still stuck on the outside, like bits of skin or even tiny drops of blood.
“And that’s not all. The fibers on the gloves and shoe covers will have dust and mold from the chimney clinging to them, and maybe even some threads from the victim’s clothes mixed in.
“All these tiny traces link up, letting us piece together the entire chain of evidence, suspect, gloves, body, and
crime scene.”
Simon’s expert breakdown made Alice and Danny, who barely knew anything about the law, turn pale as sheets.
Even though the DNA tests hadn’t come in yet, the two pairs of gloves and shoe covers hauled out of the lake pretty much confirmed what the cops thought.
Alice wasn’t working alone when it came to hiding the body.
Now, it was crystal clear who the other accomplice was.
