**TITLE: Dreams Rise Again by Braxton**
**Chapter 53**
Nina’s voice was laced with frustration, vibrating with intensity as she confronted Simon. “Simon, when will the police finally issue an official statement regarding Evan’s case? The absurdity of the rumors circulating online is infuriating.”
Simon, ever the calm presence, attempted to soothe her agitation. “I just submitted my notes to the department,” he replied, his tone steady and reassuring. He shifted his gaze toward Evan, who sat nearby, and continued, “The police are actively investigating Diana and the kidnappers. Given the frenzy this situation has stirred, we should expect some news in the next day or two.”
Evan, with a grin that lit up his face, interjected, “It’s all good. The online chatter doesn’t bother me at all.”
Years spent training outdoors had given his skin a sun-kissed glow, and when he smiled, his signature canine tooth flashed—a boyish charm that was hard to resist. “They’re just looking for drama,” he added with a light-hearted shrug.
Despite having grown up in poverty and facing countless hardships, Evan had developed a resilience that allowed him to brush off the swirling rumors. He reached for his phone, curiosity dancing in his eyes. “Mr. Reed, would it be alright if I posted something on Twitter to let my friends know I’m safe?”
Simon nodded, giving his approval. “Go ahead, but refrain from mentioning any specifics about the kidnapping just yet. The police are still probing into Diana’s pharmaceutical company, and they’ll clarify everything to the public when the time is right.”
“Understood,” Evan replied, his expression earnest. He turned to Nina, a spark of gratitude in his eyes. “Ms. Summer, do you have a Twitter account? I’d love to tag you to express my appreciation.”
“I heard you manage the zoo. With all the attention on me right now, it would be a perfect opportunity to shine a spotlight on your work,” Evan suggested, his enthusiasm palpable.
Nina’s eyes widened in surprise. “Are you certain about that?”
Evan shrugged casually, a playful grin still on his face. “All this drama has already got me trending. It would be a missed opportunity not to use it to promote you.”
Nina, still a bit taken aback, relayed her Twitter username to him.
As Evan clicked onto Nina’s page, he noticed a post made by Liam through her account. It was a statement addressing the unfounded allegations of parrot abuse at Forest Isle Zoo.
After scrolling through the content, a frown creased Evan’s forehead. “Ms. Summer, it seems like someone is deliberately targeting you. Your statement didn’t garner much attention, and the comments are filled with negativity aimed at your zoo.”
Nina let out a heavy sigh, her frustration evident as she shook her head. “I really don’t know what to do anymore. Those who spread lies never seem to face any repercussions.”
Evan paused for a moment, then his face brightened with a mischievous idea. “Ms. Summer, are there any squirrels or cats around? Let’s take a photo with them.”
Nina replied, her expression softening slightly. “Unfortunately, the hospital doesn’t allow us to bring pets. They’re usually hanging out under the trees in the backyard.”
Evan stretched his arms, a spark of energy coursing through him. Together, they made their way downstairs, where they found the squirrels and a friendly tabby cat lounging beneath the trees.
With a playful spirit, Evan positioned himself alongside Nina, and they struck a pose for the camera, the animals adding a delightful touch to the scene.
He quickly typed out a tweet, attaching the picture of their cheerful gathering with Nina and the furry companions, then pressed send without a moment’s hesitation.
Meanwhile, Claire was at Cuddle Critters Indoor Park, holding a fluffy white alpaca, posing as if she were the very embodiment of sweetness for the camera.
The alpaca’s long eyelashes fluttered nervously, white foam bubbling at its mouth, and its back legs trembled slightly, as if sensing the tension in the air.
Claire, however, remained unfazed, curling her lips into a tight smile as she barked orders. “You there, wipe the alpaca’s mouth!”
Yvonne, lowering her voice conspiratorially, pulled out her phone. “Should we drop some fresh dirt on Forest Isle Zoo? I bet people are just itching for it.”
After all, spreading rumors cost them nothing. A constant stream of scandals and relentless issues pinned on the zoo could easily wear down Forest Isle Zoo and push Nina to her breaking point.
Just as Claire was about to respond, Yvonne gasped audibly, her eyes wide as she clutched her phone tightly. “No way. This can’t be real.”
“What is it?” Claire frowned, irritation creeping into her voice as she shot Yvonne a sharp look.
Yvonne’s lips quivered, her expression filled with disbelief. “Nina—and the animals she saved—they found Evan.”
“Evan?” Claire shot up from her seat, her heart racing. “You mean the swimmer who’s been trending all day? The one who went missing? Weren’t people saying he ran off with some wealthy woman?”
Claire hastily unlocked her phone, her fingers trembling with urgency as she scanned the top story trending online, complete with hashtags: [The Animal Whisperer found Evan]. Beneath it, most of the hot topics revolved around Nina.
Numerous articles were climbing the charts with similar headlines, [Evan defends Forest Isle Zoo], [Evan safe and grateful to the zoo director].
Even the members of the National Swim Team had shared Evan’s tweet, publicly thanking Nina and pledging to volunteer at Forest Isle Zoo once their competition concluded.
Evan, at just nineteen, was a newcomer on the national team, while his teammates were already established athletes with massive followings—hundreds of thousands, even millions of fans.
More and more people were discovering that it was Nina and her animals who had found Evan, and with the entire National Team expressing their gratitude towards her, the story exploded into a phenomenon.
