Queenie savored his words, letting out a soft chuckle. Her gaze was cold as she walked up to the man. Instead of calling him out for voicing exactly what she was thinking, she said calmly, "It's not too late to regret it. Do you want a divorce? I'm ready whenever you are."
Zander stood completely stunned.
Queenie turned to the nanny standing nearby. "Go get the wedding dress from my closet."
The nanny had no idea what was going on, but she did as she was told.
A few moments later, the nanny returned to the living room, carefully cradling the expensive, custom-made French gown.
She held it protectively against her chest, treating it with the exact same reverence Queenie once had.
Everyone knew how much Queenie cherished that dress, Zander included. She had believed it was the ultimate testament to their years of love.
But now, it was going to serve as a testament to how their past would turn to ash...
Stripped of her usual reverence, Queenie took the dress from the nanny as if it were a piece of trash. She turned and walked straight into the backyard.
With a powerful heave, she tossed the pristine white gown into the smoldering ashes of the fire pit. A stray spark instantly ignited into a roaring blaze.
In the blink of an eye, it swallowed up their entire youth.
When Zander rushed out after her, his pupils shrank in absolute shock. As soon as it registered, he roared, "Queenie, are you crazy?!"
If the dress hadn't already been reduced to cinders, he would have dove in after it.
Queenie remained entirely unbothered. There wasn't a shred of reluctance in her calm eyes.
"You're already blind. What's the point of me keeping this joke of an item?"
With that, she casually walked away.
Zander froze in place, the flickering flames reflecting in his eyes. Suddenly, an unbearable, suffocating pain seized his chest.
Renata hurried over, stopping right in front of him. She reached out and wrapped her hands around his clenched fists.
"Zander, don't be mad. I really didn't expect Queenie to be so extreme and childish."
