In the past, Queenie felt a deep sense of regret about it. Now, she didn't know how lucky she truly was.
Never having been intimate with that cheating scumbag was the absolute greatest blessing of this miserable marriage.

The next day.
Queenie was sitting at the dining table having breakfast when Renata pulled her daughter over.
Romy didn't even bother saying hello. The moment she sat down, she acted like she owned the place. "Mom, why isn't Dad eating breakfast with us?"
Renata lightly tapped her daughter's lips and scolded her. "Don't just call him that. Mr. Calvert isn't your dad."
She then turned to Queenie with an apologetic smile. "Romy grew up without a father figure, so she just naturally treats Zander like one. Please don't take offense."
Queenie's lips curled into a smirk. "It's fine. She's a feral kid, it's perfectly normal for her not to have any manners."
Renata's face instantly darkened. Before she could snap back, Zander walked in.
He looked absolutely exhausted. His sharp brows were tightly knitted, clearly burdened by some deep worry.
Queenie, of course, knew exactly what was bothering him.
As soon as Zander sat down, he glared at Renata. "Dr. Whitlock, when exactly are you going to introduce me to 'Z'?"
Renata immediately plastered on a bright smile. "Zander, I've already spoken to her. It's just that she's off the grid right now taking a break, so she doesn't want to get involved in the stock market at the moment. As soon as her retreat is over, I'll introduce you two right away."
"You know 'Z', Dr. Whitlock?" Queenie asked, feigning curiosity.
A glint of smugness flashed in Renata's eyes. "Of course. I'm a highly respected therapist, I have plenty of connections. 'Z' is actually my best friend. Given how close we are, she always helps me out when I ask."
Hope ignited in Zander's eyes. "Could you talk to her and ask if she'd be willing to cut her break short? I'm dealing with some really tricky issues right now and urgently need her help."
