The Fragrance Queen's Final Note novel Chapter 111

Queenie stared at the open gift box, her eyes widening in sheer disbelief.

How could this happen? She had prepared the Sage's Longevity Coffee Pot, a priceless masterpiece, for her grandfather. But now, sitting in the velvet-lined box was a clock!

The entire room fell into a suffocating silence. No one expected Queenie to present something so profoundly offensive.

Desmond's face drained of color. He pointed a trembling finger at her. "If you didn't want to get me a gift, you could have just shown up empty-handed! Gifting a clock as a death wish... is that it? Are you that eager for me to die?"

Queenie's face paled as the horrifying realization set in. She slowly curled her fingers into her palms, fighting the volcanic surge of anger in her chest.

"Grandpa, I'm sorry," she explained evenly. "This isn't the gift I bought for you. There must have been a mix-up."

She knew exactly what had happened. Someone had swapped her gift.

But she couldn't prove it right now in front of the entire family.

Sitting to Desmond's left, Jessica Xylon—Queenie's cousin and Perry's daughter—hid a smirk before rushing to her grandfather's side.

She patted the old man's back soothingly. "Grandpa, please don't get worked up. I'm sure Queenie is telling the truth. It must be a mistake. Why would she ever wish for your death?"

Jessica's words were pure gasoline on the fire.

With a furious sweep of his arm, Desmond knocked the gift box off the table. "Is there any disgraceful thing she won't do? She's always been like this!"

He jabbed a finger in Queenie's direction. "I told her to study finance, and she wasted four years achieving absolutely nothing! And as if being incompetent wasn't enough, she spent her college years shamelessly dating around.

"The second she graduated, she threw a tantrum about getting married. Did she accept the brilliant match I arranged? No! She insisted on marrying a businessman, defying her elders and behaving like a tramp. I don't know how the Xylon family raised such a repulsive, ungrateful wretch!"

Where there is a negative example, there is always a positive one.
