This was the exact bottleneck she had been struggling to overcome for months.
With the deadline breathing down her neck, Queenie sat at her worktable, surrounded by glass vials, rubbing her temples in sheer frustration.
Suddenly, a bubbly young woman practically skipped into the studio.
Jocelyn Jennings had just returned from a two-day business trip. The second she landed, she heard that Queenie had finally discovered her cousin Stanley's true identity. She rushed straight over to grovel for forgiveness.
Queenie rolled her eyes the moment she saw her.
Jocelyn trotted over, flashing a massive, apologetic grin. "Queenie! I'm here to beg for mercy! I brought an imaginary dagger and a whip—do you want to stab me or flog me?"
"Please," Queenie scoffed. "You're the cousin of the CEO of Aurélle. I wouldn't dare."
She already knew her true identity.
Jocelyn grabbed Queenie's arm and shook it playfully. "Aww, come on, Queenie, don't be mad! I didn't want to hide it from you. It was all my tyrant of a cousin! He pulled rank on me. Yes, I'm his family, but he signs my paychecks! What was I supposed to do?"
Queenie didn't reply, opting to stare intensely at the row of test tubes in front of her.
Sensing that Queenie was stressed about her work...
Jocelyn spotted an opportunity to redeem herself. "Queenie, did you hit a roadblock with the formula? Tell you what—I can introduce you to a master perfumer. Whatever issue you're having, I guarantee she can solve it in a heartbeat."
That immediately caught Queenie's attention.
"Are you serious?"
"A hundred percent!" Jocelyn patted her chest confidently. "Come on, I'll take you to meet her right now!"
If this expert could actually solve her longevity issue, it would completely save her competition entry.
Queenie instantly stood up. Right at that moment, her phone buzzed.
Glancing down at the screen, she hit speakerphone with an irritated sigh. "What do you want?"
"Queenie, are you free right now? If you are, let's head to the clinic—"
Before Zander could even finish his sentence, Queenie cut him off dryly. "No need. I just went. The doctor said my ovarian reserve is completely depleted. My eggs are useless. So it's a no-go."
Jocelyn clapped a hand over her mouth, desperately trying not to burst out laughing.
