She buried her face in her hands.
Her mind still couldn't entirely process the fact that she had allowed herself to let go like that. She had grown up in a highly traditional, rigid family. Even though she was independent enough to boldly pursue Zander, when it came to physical intimacy, she was always reserved.
She and Zander had never shared anything even remotely close to the intense passion she experienced last night.
After her shower, pure exhaustion pulled her into a deep sleep. She slept straight through until evening. When she finally opened her eyes, she was startled to find Zander sitting by her bed.
For a split second, pure rage spiked in Queenie's chest, but she forcefully tamped it down.
Hiding every trace of emotion behind a blank mask, she asked coolly, "Why are you here?"
"Queenie, what happened to your arm? How did you get hurt?" Zander asked, pretending he didn't already know.
The truth was exactly as Renata had said: Zander was the one who orchestrated the trap to catch Queenie cheating.
However, the actual details were very different from Renata's version of the story.
Driven entirely by the panic of finding the camera and Queenie's uncharacteristically cold behavior lately, coupled with Renata constantly whispering poison in his ear, Zander had started obsessing over what would happen if Queenie found out the truth and refused to forgive him.
That was when Renata suggested tricking her into cheating first. Because if she was deeply in the wrong, she would lose the moral high ground to judge him.
After struggling with the idea, Zander eventually decided to pull the trigger. But he had absolutely no intention of letting another man actually touch Queenie.
When he saw Zenia's social media post and guessed they would be meeting at a bar that night, he crafted a plan.
First, he forced Zenia out of the picture. Then, he secretly had someone slip sleeping pills into Queenie's drink. After that, he hired a man who physically couldn't perform to carry her to a hotel.
The plan was to just have the man sleep next to her all night, creating the perfect illusion that they had slept together while drunk.
That was his ultimate goal. He believed that afterward, Queenie would be far too terrified to ever speak of it. He would then hold the ultimate trump card over her head, allowing him to guilt-free continue his 'treatments' with Renata. He'd never have to worry about the affair being exposed again.
But for all of Zander's meticulous plotting, he vastly underestimated exactly how evil Renata truly was.
