The Fragrance Queen's Final Note novel Chapter 44

What was the point of getting tangled up with a married woman?

"He loves her so much that he turns off his phone right after finding out she needs emergency surgery?"

Stanley found the entire situation completely absurd.

"...Maybe he has his reasons. Or maybe the number I got was wrong. Regardless, this isn't our business anyway."

Stanley waited until Queenie's surgery was completely finished, ensuring she was in stable condition and cleared to be discharged the next morning.

Only then did he finally leave the hospital, urged relentlessly by Miles.

Queenie woke up in the early hours of the morning, feeling a sharp tug of pain in her lower abdomen. A nurse happened to walk in, and that was when she realized she'd undergone surgery.

"Why didn't you have any family here? Two of your friends brought you in. They waited until your surgery was fully over before they left."

"Friends?"

"Yeah, your surgery required a signature from a family member, so your friend signed for you."

"What was his name?"

"Miles."

Miles...

Queenie racked her brain, but she couldn't think of a single friend named Miles.

Her head still throbbed from the hangover, so she didn't bother dwelling on it. Maybe it was just a good Samaritan who had brought her in.

After resting a bit more, she turned on her phone.

She hadn't gone home last night, and Zander hadn't even texted to check on her.

A cold sneer touched her lips. Suddenly, a post from Renata Whitlock appeared on her timeline.

It was a photo from Romy's birthday. The little girl was dressed in a princess gown, sitting in front of a cake with a tiara on her head.

On either side of her was a hand, coming together to form a heart shape.

She instantly recognized one of the hands as Zander's.

Because it was wearing their wedding ring.

The caption read:

*[Heart] We'll be together every day from now on. 1+1=3.*

Queenie let out a harsh laugh.

What a beautiful picture of domestic bliss.

As she laughed, the warmth drained entirely from her eyes, leaving nothing but glacial ice.

So she was just going to blatantly provoke her like this, huh?

*Renata, do you honestly think I can't take you down?*

Opening her contacts, she clicked into a specific conversation thread...
