Marilyn bossed her around with an arrogant sneer.
Queenie scoffed. "Did acting like a maid at the Sinclair house make you think everyone else is addicted to slaving away in the kitchen?"
She held up a hand, casually inspecting her nails. "I've already told you, I married into this family to live comfortably. I have zero interest in the kitchen."
Marilyn sprang up, absolutely furious. "What did you just say? Look at how lazy you've become! Renata is practically a stranger, yet she can help Zander with his career! What use are you?
Not only are you completely useless, but you're also cheating on my brother. Our family must have committed sins for eight lifetimes to be cursed with a plague like you!"
Queenie nodded. "Your family definitely commits a lot of sins. You should probably start building up some good karma."
"You..."
Marilyn nearly choked on her own fury.
Queenie had never dared speak to her like this before.
Anger shooting straight to her head, she marched forward and raised her hand to slap her.
Queenie sharply blocked her. Gripping Marilyn's wrist tightly, she warned her, word by word, "This is my house. Don't push your luck. If we really tear this family apart, I'll make sure you never step foot in here again."
Marilyn stared at her in shock. She had no idea where Queenie was getting this sudden confidence! It was like she had turned into a completely different person!
Despite the burning rage in her chest, Marilyn had to restrain herself.
She knew how much her brother valued this woman; he wouldn't take her side.
Otherwise, she would have thrown her out ages ago!
Renata walked over, stepping between them. Pulling Marilyn's arm, she played the peacemaker. "Marilyn, let's talk this out. You're all family here. If Queenie doesn't want to cook, I'll do it."
