"You're all here!"
Before Renata could answer, Zander strode in, beaming with pride.
Catching him like a lifeline, Renata immediately forced a calm expression and replied, "Zander gave it to me."
As Zander approached, Marilyn asked, half-skeptical, "Zander, did you really give this to Dr. Whitlock?"
Zander had given Renata so much jewelry he couldn't even remember the specific designs anymore.
But he was in a fantastic mood today. The convertible bond issuance was going smoothly.
His mind wasn't on the jewelry, so since Renata said he gave it to her, he simply played along.
"That's right. Dr. Whitlock has helped me a lot. Giving her a few sets of jewelry is the least I could do."
Marilyn breathed a sigh of relief, suddenly feeling ridiculous.
It was just a necklace she had happened to see at the mall. Why was she letting her imagination run wild?
There was absolutely no connection.
"I've booked a special dinner at the Riverside Hotel to thank Dr. Whitlock for all her help. We're not eating at home tonight—let's all head over to the hotel."
"Sounds great!"
Marilyn was the first to agree.
"I'll pass. I'm a bit tired and want to turn in early."
Queenie dropped the cold rejection and headed straight upstairs.
Zander didn't push it. He affectionately took Romy's hand, and the group walked out the door.

Stanley Zimmer walked out of the building, followed by his two assistants, heading to a business engagement.
Jocelyn chased after him with a bright smile. "Stanley..."
"Call me Mr. Zimmer!"
Stanley corrected her bluntly.
