The Fragrance Queen's Final Note novel Chapter 54

After thinking about it from every angle and still coming up empty, she decided to just ask the source.

Queenie was in her bedroom, holding her tablet and researching floral data. She was trying to find a foreign alternative to the Black Rose.

Naturally, there were more varieties overseas than locally, but ordinary roses couldn't produce the pure dew she needed.

She had to find the most unique strain.

Right as she was deeply engrossed in her research, Jocelyn called.

She answered on speakerphone.

"Hey, Jocelyn. What's up?"

"Queenie, you asked for my cou—" Suddenly remembering her cousin was hiding his identity, she quickly corrected herself, "You asked for Miles's number. Why did you add him and then delete him?"

So that was what this was about.

Queenie smiled apologetically. "There was a slight misunderstanding. I just wanted to explain things to him. Once I did, I figured there was no point keeping his number, so I deleted it."

"But..."

Seeing her hesitate, Queenie asked, "But what?"

"He thinks you're playing hard to get. He thinks you're intentionally trying to get his attention."

Queenie was speechless.

This was just getting worse and worse.

She was actively trying to avoid suspicion, so how did it turn into her playing hard to get?

She didn't even have the energy to defend herself anymore.

"Jocelyn, please tell him I honestly don't have any intentions like that. I'm a married woman. I wouldn't entertain such shameless thoughts. Tell him to stop overthinking things—he's not even my type."

"I know, Queenie. You love your husband so much, you would never..."

Jocelyn sat in the car talking to Queenie, glancing casually out the window.

Suddenly, her eyes widened, locking onto a spot in the distance. She stopped mid-sentence, her mouth falling open into a perfect 'O'.

"Queenie, I'll call you right back!"

*Click.* She hung up the phone.
