Stanley followed his gaze and witnessed the exact scene that made his stomach twist with irritation.
"Only Jocelyn is naive enough to fall for her act. Claiming she came abroad to source ingredients for the competition—yeah, right. The ingredients are an excuse; picking up guys is the real agenda. We've barely been here, and she's already hooked one. She really just networks wherever she goes."
Stanley sat silently in the backseat. His narrow eyes lowered, a chilling frost seeping into his gaze.
When they went out for dinner earlier, Jocelyn had said Queenie wasn't feeling well and stayed behind.
If she was sick, she should be resting in bed, not sitting outside chatting up random men.
She didn't look sick at all.
She looked like she was having a great time!
And to think he had actually been debating whether he should check on her when they got back.
Stanley tore his gaze away, the muscle in his jaw ticking so hard it cut a sharp line against his face. "It's green. Drive!" he snapped impatiently.
When Queenie returned to her hotel room, Jocelyn still wasn't back.
She texted her: "Are you still eating?"
"I'm done, Queenie! I'm just window shopping outside. Are you hungry? I can come back now if you want."
"No need. Are you with Mr. Zimmer and the others?"
"Nope, they headed back already. I'm just wandering around by myself."
"Be careful out there alone, don't stay out too late."
"Got it!"
Queenie poured herself a glass of warm water, took her medication, and went to bed.
She had no idea what time Jocelyn finally got back. Between the ten-hour flight and the exhaustion, she slept like a rock.
Jocelyn had mentioned yesterday that Mr. Zimmer was in the UK primarily to discuss a monopoly on raw materials with the Austin family.
She had also sworn up and down that she could bring Queenie along today.
The Austins were notoriously stubborn and difficult to work with. Queenie had tried contacting them back home but never got a response.
If she couldn't tag along with Mr. Zimmer's group, heading to the Austin Manor alone would likely mean getting shut out before even meeting the owner.
After breakfast, Queenie waited in the hotel lobby with Jocelyn.
A thrill of anticipation hummed in her chest.
She was going to get her hands on the Juliet Rose.
