Queenie let out a cold laugh.
After knowing him for six years, she finally understood that Zander had always looked down his nose at her.
"Were you a dog in a past life?"
Zander's eyes darkened instantly. "What is that supposed to mean?"
"Because you certainly love looking down your snout at people."
Zander's jaw tightened, a flash of genuine anger bleeding into his gaze. "Keep running your mouth. Let's see how long you can keep this up. If your spine was half as stiff as your attitude, I might actually be impressed!"
*Click.* Zander furiously ended the call.
Queenie scoffed and shoved her phone back into her pocket. The sheer arrogance of the man. One day, she was going to completely destroy his ego.
Inside the manor, Stanley was sitting by the window, wrapping up the partnership details with Robert.
The negotiations had gone exceptionally well and were coming to a close.
Robert's phone rang, and he excused himself to take the call.
Jocelyn had been anxious this entire time. Seizing the opportunity, she leaned in toward her cousin. "Quick, ask Robert to give us some Juliet Roses!"
Stanley shot her a sidelong glance. "I don't need them."
"But Queenie does! She's literally standing outside the gates right now. She's been waiting for over two hours!"
At her words, Stanley's indifferent gaze drifted toward the window.
Through the glass, he actually spotted a lonely figure standing out by the manor gates.
The light rain was still falling, yet she hadn't moved an inch.
Pulling his gaze back coolly, Stanley remained impassive. "None of my business."
Jocelyn was furious. She stomped her foot. "No wonder you're single! You deserve to be alone! If you aren't single, who would be?"
The negotiations resumed. As Stanley discussed the rigorous details of the contract, his eyes kept inexplicably flicking back toward the window.
Queenie's incision had been throbbing since the night before.
