Zander felt a twinge of pain in his gut, though not as severe as the others.
The restaurant manager rushed in.
Seeing half a room suffering from mass food poisoning sent him into a panic.
He frantically called for ambulances.
Zander roared at him. "What the hell did you serve us? Are you trying to kill us?"
Someone groaned in agreement. "Exactly! A luxury establishment, and this is what we get? Expect a massive lawsuit!"
The manager promised desperately, "Please stay calm. Maison Arome will give you a full explanation. The kitchen is being locked down as we speak. If this is our fault, we will take full responsibility!"
While he was trying to pacify the room, someone suddenly noticed that Queenie was completely fine.
Instantly, suspicious eyes locked onto her.
They all shot pointed looks at her husband.
He frowned deeply. "Why aren't you sick?"
She had been wondering the exact same thing. Why was she fine?
Her eyes dropped to a dish of peppercorn foie gras on the table.
"Could it be the foie gras?" she remarked casually. "I don't like liver, so I didn't touch it."
"The one dish you didn't eat just happens to be the tainted one? Don't you think that's a little too convenient?"
Ms. Langdon sneered through her pain.
Mark immediately backed her up. "Exactly! I bet she poisoned us! She's been attacking us since she walked in!"
Whipped up by the accusation, the rest of the table glared at her with open hostility.
Queenie found it laughable.
"You think I poisoned you? Do you have any proof?"
She had nothing to hide.
"It's completely logical! Everyone is in agony except you. If you want to prove your innocence, eat the rest of that foie gras right now!"
Ms. Langdon pressed her attack.
She scoffed coldly. "I'm allergic to goose. I can't eat it."
"That's such a weak excuse!"
