The man sitting next to him stared at her in wide-eyed horror, wondering how she knew everyone's darkest secrets—and soon realizing he wasn't safe either.
"Mr. Sawyer, are you still terrified of your wife? She doesn't make you sleep on the couch as punishment anymore, does she? Have a little backbone. You act like a tough guy in public, but behind closed doors, you're practically a servant..."
"Enough!"
Zander slammed his hand on the table and shot up, shaking with rage. All of these scandalous rumors were things he had privately told her over the years.
And now she was mercilessly weaponizing them in public.
She was completely destroying everyone's dignity.
And she was dragging his reputation down with them.
Just as he was about to rip into her, an elegant figure glided into the room. It was Renata Whitlock.
Her arrival instantly commanded the attention of everyone present.
She wore an off-the-shoulder, fitted dress that showed off a delicate collarbone and her long, toned legs. Paired with sharp heels and her stunning chestnut waves cascading down her shoulders, she looked impeccable.
Her radiant face carried a charming, irresistible smile as she smoothly explained her intrusion.
"Hello, everyone. I'm a friend of Zander's. He mentioned he rarely gets to catch up with all of you, so he asked me to pick out some gifts on his behalf. I wasn't entirely sure of your tastes, so please forgive me if it isn't perfect."
With that, she began handing out the beautifully wrapped boxes she had brought in.
Even Zander was stunned. He had mentioned the reunion to her, but he certainly hadn't asked her to buy anything.
Yet she had gone out of her way to do this for him. How incredibly thoughtful.
He mentally compared her to the woman sitting beside him—the wife who couldn't even be bothered to change clothes, lashing out like a feral animal, looking like a mess, and doing nothing but causing him humiliation.
His eyes filled with absolute revulsion.
"Zander, when did you make such a gorgeous friend?"
One of the men spoke up, sheer admiration and envy dripping from his words.
Renata made her way around the table. There were fifteen classmates, and she had bought exactly fifteen luxury gifts.
None of them were cheap.
Amidst the chorus of eager gratitude and praise, the pride that had just been shattered by his wife was meticulously glued back together.
